recently i got this quest and knowing how fast the gimp goes down i managed to leave them out of the car drove to the enclave and started the fight , the NPC still died before i could finish all 3 off. couldnt find her corpse and ended up having to drive back to the quest npc.
halfway between the two locations lying dead in the road was the NPC , she managd to get shot a few KM away through a hill several buildings . hell of a shot
I give everyone a 5 shot anti aircraft .50 cal or a FAL with an Advanced Brake. Only then will your survivors own every zed assaulting your base.
But keep in mind, some bases are broken, so even with those grimdark weapons they may still die if you don't hold there hands.
Yarp. Try to keep in mind that Undead Labs was an indie dev, and were only bought after the release of SoD2 by Microsoft. Maybe SoD3 will have more of everything we are missing.
Good luck.
Is that FAL-weapon full-auto-only (no select fire)? Because if the AI gets to not choose Single, they become several times more effective at shooting.
This is why some overlooked and easy-to-get weapons are excellent for the NPCs but not that great for you.
The RTX Rampart and RTX Cyclone are sold by Red Talon traders and are full-auto-only conversions of the Vulture pistol (aka Desert Eagle) and R12 Import shotgun respectively. Sadly, they didn't increase ammo capacity so they'll reload a lot, but those .44 bursts will always kill a zombie. Unlike even a single fire 7.62 with Advanced Brake, which too often goes center mass.
The NPCs will sometimes shoot full-auto or burst when it is available, but mostly they will choose single-fire when it is available - severly reducing effectiveness.
Of course, there are far better and rarer weapons available of this sort, as well as some offered by the Bounty Broker - although right now there are none.
The Raider line of rare weapons can be found on hostile humans mostly, but the Rare Weapons Cases sometimes have the AR15 version, and on rare occasions the Mysterious Wandering Trader or random enclaves sell them. These are Raider's AK47 (75 drum), Raider's AR15 (50 drum) and the Raider's Uzi .22 (25 clip). The AK47 is by far the best NPC gun in the game, since the B50FG is underwhelming against masses of zombies.
The Rare Weapons Cases also sometimes has got the G18 Custom Auto, an assault pistol with a 50-round drum. I sometimes use this one to kill Plague Hearts, but it is also great on NPCs.
Then there are the BAR variants found in Plague Hearts, mostly. These are low capacity but lays down lead anyway, since the reload is quick.
In Plague Hearts, you can also find the Dillinger Pattern 1911, a full-auto conversion of the 1911 pistol with a 20-round clip. Non-gunslingers will struggle to reload it quickly, and like the other smaller caliber guns it needs Advanced or Professional Brakes in order to be worth it in my opinion. But it is still better than the NPCs having a regular AK47 for instance.
The Bounty Broker full-auto weapons are the Non-Compliant SKS, the FBI Fighting Rifle, the M3 Grease Gun (which can also be found in Plague Hearts) and the MP40 Submachine Gun, none of which are in rotation now.
I also put that advanced brake on some of the full auto guns you mentioned, they are very deadly as well. ^^
Dude, you might as well "Roast" me about the Game of Thrones Books or Jurassic Park Movies or Miley Cyrus Videos. I haven't Read, Seen or heard ANY OF THEM.
And I have Zero #($*s about doing so.
You do not want to throw down with me in the "I don't care if you don't care" memorial auditorium in don't give a #($*sville.
I never bring my community's npcs with me while playing Nightmare. Even with my Red Talon npcs I've recruited, they easily fall prey to a horde or a Feral if I bring them with me. I've seen what happens to the average AI when they want me to join them on a Plague Heart destroy mission and all the npc has on them is a wooden bat and no gun. Some missions are just impossible to complete on Nightmare and up. Unless you want to just horde a bunch of powerful ♥♥♥♥ then waste away all the enemies just for 100 measly influence.
I just had a pretty humorous mission myself. Got a call from a survivor that needs to be escorted back to her enclave after getting separated. She was in a barn, and needed to be escorted to the building right across from it. She didn't even have time to thank me for agreeing before she said "we're here". Autocompleted itself before I could even move.
I hate those almost as much as the I need <Rucksack> and there is one LITERALLY on the shelf next to them (Usually when they spawn in a Unlooted Tartan Mart and want food or an Unlooted Werehouse and want materials).
It's times like those I just want to be able to shoot survivors.
Disclaimer: I know the game mechanics won't allow them to actually loot stuff or search, it's all animations with no actual scripting, but still.
But these are great! You just go there, talk to them to initiate, then immediately talk to them again to get the ScentBlock, pick up the scentblock and then talk to them again (I think - unsure of this one) and then run for the car and drive straight to the questgiver. There you get 3 more Scentblock.
Fighting the horde is optional, and a pretty dumb thing to do except if you want the excitement of the maximum amount of full-aggro zombies that the game can cough up.
Edit: the key is being quick. After he drops the ScentBlock you've got like 5 seconds to get out of there before hell breaks loose.
