However this does not mean that if support is cut sometime in the future they won't change this. They could just make a change to the game that it won't require this login anymore.
However I would say it's extremely unlikely they would cut this game from the login servers anytime soon. Unless you worry if you can still play the game in 10 or 20 years. By that time there is probably State of Decay 3 or 4 already released.
Thank you!
Imho, spend your money elsewhere so you don't have to worry about not being able to play this game regardless how old it is or not being connected to the internet!!
Oh lord, some people's logic. The game is great, from all the negative reviews it wouldn't surprise me if not even 10% of them don't actually talk about game flaws, instead they cry about having to login with same account they manage their Win10 copy with. People saying it's not worth it are just mad it's not what they wanted or didn't like the no hand-holding mode this game offers with its perma-death feature.
If you're really thinking it will have its support cut out after 2 years you're probably better off away from it. MGV is more than 2 years old and by some "the worst game ever" and it's still running strong with new additions here and there in terms of cosmetics and such, especially for anniversaries. Yet some thought it would "die" in less than a year.
If you want to play something in today's age either look it up yourself(gameplay videos or actual mechanics) or don't at all, because asking on Steam forums will just bring out the cancerous "community" that only camps the forums to talk crap on anything they don't like instead of focusing on games they actually enjoy, which is the sole reason people would even be using Steam in my book, but what do I know.
but if ur one of the guys who have problem and don't know how windows10 ms store work... then maybe just w8 until steam version lets u play it offline which it should have before buying the steam version.
if ur in doubt go try asking on their official discord.
Game still has some bugs that were never fixed, but not as buggy when released.
Like I said, there is no guarantee that this game will run after the online service/servers are taken down. It's your money, so do what you please. But, you have been warned. Hopefully, MS doesn't act like EA when shutting down servers & services!!
Well EA is still running the servers for Spore, a 12 year old game. It's different for yearly releases or bi-yearly releases. But that's the same with many other companies like 2K with the NBA and WWE games, where they shut down servers in a 2-year rhythm. They want to you buy the new games. But you can still play these games solo regardless.
SoD isn't a regularly releasing game that has a new version every year. And even if they release State of Decay 3 in maybe 3 years from now and they decide to shut down the servers. This will only affect the online mode because they would just remove the login requirement from the game. Anyone who thinks this game has even the slightest chance of becoming unplayable in singleplayer due to servers shutting down in the next few years clearly doesn't understand much on how these companies work and why and when servers for certain games get shut down.
Again, there is NO GUARANTEE if you can play this game years from now due to the online requirements!! That also includes removing the login part as well! Why keep saying things that hasn't been proven to be true for this game? You have no idea what MS or Undead Labs is going to do about their servers or login requirements for this game in the future. You can guess and speculate, but that is like playing the stock market. You may be right or you may be wrong.
"Anyone who thinks this game has even the slightest chance of becoming unplayable in singleplayer due to servers shutting down in the next few years clearly doesn't understand much on how these companies work and why and when servers for certain games get shut down."
Just because a couple old games still have server support, doesn't GUARANTEE it applies to this one. Reminds me of GWL and the problems people had with that without using hacks or GoG versions.
You don't know that. Do people here have ESP or some divining abilities the rest of us don't? If so, why are you here and not playing on the stock market for big $$!!
Also, I wager many people who buy GoG games would disagree with you about playing their games many years from when they were purchased.
??? You mean all those games that came out in the 80's and 90's on GoG that I have to REBUY because they don't work well on modern systems in there original release? So what you are saying is they will just rerelease SoD2 at a later time after its no longer available (if that ever happens) and I'll just buy it again to play it on then what would be a modern system? Good to know nothing has changed.
