That how nightmare shown to be, it like in real life where outnumber always beat the one.. This mode is best to play with friends to be say fair-play unless you wanna keep struggling on low HP and keep hidden without doing any mass combat..

Played with my 4 friends, which shown its manageable like normal mode.

i like the nightmare, i like hard game but when game gets flooded by two juggernauts and three ferals + the usual zombie suspects it gets too much.

I get you as you like challenging but in a 4 men run in nightmare its like playing in slightly higher than standard mode which 4 of us can down the few juggernauts like normal zombie, we basically toying them.
But for one men to encounter that numbers of special zombie, you alone can face the annoying feral chasing you to be enough say.

Like i said, dreadzone (1-2person) is = nightmare (4person) gameplay.

i always "hired" a member of one of the other communities on my map to watch my back. After that it's just a question of finding a high damage weapon and going for headshots and juggernauts wont be a problem anymore (sure some of these hirelings may lose their lives, but who cares)

There's a setting for "unusual zombies", not sure what it does once you turn it off.

LOL i remember the first time I got the bright idea to hit a Juggernaut with a car to try to kill/hurt the thing. Poor car. I've lost more characters to Juggernauts than to anything else, both in SOD1 and this one. I actually didn't know it had released on steam- i got it on the microsoft store (which SUCKS badly) but it's a helluva game. As of last time I played there were no reliable ways to increase the population cap through mods but other than that I have no complaints.

Seeing it launch on steam is making me want to play it again. Think I'll reinstall and do another runthrough. Forgot that you can kinda pick which ending you want to work towards so: yay replay value.

If you do not kill them as they spawn and/or as you meet them, the map will eventually be filled with them which is very annoying imo.

Freaks is suppose to mean out of the ordinary, rare in nature... well might aswell find them a better name because they are all but rare.

I do not know how people play hard or nightmare, I did not try but seeing how the spawns are on normal, I do not want to know how it looks like on hard or nightmare. I find it rather easy on normal but it is just simply annoying to kill them over and over again, at some point, areas should become safer and not have so many zombies. I chose the farm as my home and every single time I leave the base I kill hordes around it and every time I come back I have to do it again. Kind of the same with any freaks.

With a driver survivor you can typically kill one with a vehicle and drive away...barely.

"unusual zombies" are zombies that wear construction cones on their heads, clowns, and other dumb stuff.

If you are that scared of Juggys, then use Cheat Engine or some kind of Trainer to nerf em. Problem solved. Folks who like how it is, keep it that way. You can cheese through it.

Its a stupid setting, as they're so rare I can't see how anyone would be bothered by something that ridiculous. In 30+ hours so far, I've only come across one - a colonial soldier - though there may have been others I didn't notice. Maybe the settings got flipped, and the unusual ones are supposed to appear as often as the freaks do, and vice-versa?!

or u can bring some jug hunter on co-op and they shall disable them jug "heads" on the rivers or in dale(valley).

I've found Dread Difficulty (medium) to be the appreciable challenge I was looking for with brand new communities. I've survived a few weeks in Nightmare solo but good god it is a *slog.* Much rather recommend Nightmare for those who carry over highly experienced survivors with key skills needed to manage the zerging (which has provably been done, keep in mind this is the end-all be-all hard mode of the game where you can wind up with an army of super soldiers).

Speaking of Jugglenuts though, do you even *need* to headshot them? Getting to end-game in Dread Difficulty and finally able to play with fancy guns and honestly shots to their gut seem to bring them down just as fast as shots to the head. This is most notable on incredibly fast-firing high-caliber weapons like the Desert Eagle clone and Red Talon burst fire sidearm. Granted you won't have these early in the game, or the ammo to routinely use them, but they quickly trivialize the fat guys once you've cleared up enough surrounding trash to focus them down.

EDIT: Referring to Blood Plague Juggernauts on Dread Difficulty, if there's any confusion.

2nd: Oh, also about the zerging on Nightmare, while sound is much harder to manage, that's going to be your key balancing act very early on to prevent hitting the early-game downward spiral, or just getting bowled over entirely outright. Pace yourself and your upgrades and prioritize safety as much as you reasonably can. Unless you're rocking three super soldiers to start with, this is going to be an endurance race, not a sprint.

I've heard they can be stealth killed, but I'm not sure how true it is as I have not been able to do it.

I only kill them by cheesing them, either by climbing up on top of something they can't knock down (like a stationary bus) and peppering them with headshots until they drop. I climbed on top of a bus once and peppered a juggernaut with a 9mm pistol. Took 40-45 shots to the head to drop the big boi.

He just circled my bus of safety grunting angrily that he skipped leg day.

Unfortunately it is not possible to stealth kill Juggernauts.
