Without xbox account?

It's an requirement, because Microsoft Corporation want force users into their own cloud network in ALL newer products/games. Other examples are disabled local accounts in Windows 10 or seperated NVidia control panels.. Beside that new games from MS are plagued with (windows) telemetry, audio recording and spyware.

You can take a look into my review State of Decay 2 It's in german, but you can see linked english telemetry examples from SoD2 and also all related ingame stuff (including forced login mechanics)

And yes, it's possible to play without, but discussions about that topic are not allowed on this platform ;] You have to research by yourself.

A free Xbox Live account is needed to log in to the game. Having the account linked to your windows account on windows 10 is needed for offline mode. That's it. Windows 10 already has xbox live installed on your pc (Xbox Console Companion) I believe is the name of the app.

Its required because the game saves some of your data via Account (aka unlocks, like clothing, bounty missions, daybreak, ect) While your community is saved locally. (windows 10 store features the ability to access your local saves via the xbox or ms store, as part of the play anywhere idea. Steam and Epic are incompatiable with it directly. (indirectly they can though)

Ich habe Deine Rezension gelesen und bin enttäuscht und schockiert. Das ist bitter und ein richtiger Interessenkonflikt. Einerseits wenn alle dem Publisher den Mittelfinger zeigen würden würde sich 100%ig was ändern. Andererseits ist jeder oft zu geil auf diverse Titel und dann wird man kritiklos. Was tun?

If you have a copy of windows 10 once you register it, it becomes a windows 10 account. If you log into windows 10 via the account you will be able to play offline. Or so I'm told.

I registered my windows 10 account because it makes reinstalling windows 10 simple and easy, as once you do so and log back in its instantly verified. (no more 40 hour phone calls to microsoft support)

Joar, der Mittelfinger fehlt und zwar einer der nicht nach 2 Wochen wieder in Vergessenheit gerät.

Solang kein Umdenken stattfindet kann man nix tun oder nur für sich im Kleinen. "Vote with your wallet" hilft kaum, bei der Masse an Käufern und wenn ein Teil schockiert ist kommen Millionen nach. Da wäre Politik gefragt, aber auch die verdient an diesen Geschäftspraktiken mit... aber da quasi 5 Konzerne die westliche Technologie bestimmen, ist das etwas komplizierter.

Mehrere Wege:
a) Verzicht und man ist irgendwann der Depp mit nichts in der Hand
b) Man macht das was möglich ist für sich und kann so teilweise entschärfen. Ob mit Filterlisten oder anderen Dingen. Ich konnte bereits ein paar Hersteller und Entwickler dazu bewegen, Mechaniken zu ändern oder zu entfernen
c) Ingoriert einfach alles und macht weiter wie bisher
d) Versucht etwas mit Hilfe der DSGVO und Datenschutzgesesetzen (auch kombinierbar mit b)

As long as no rethinking takes place, you can't do anything or only for yourself in small things. "Vote with your wallet" doesn't help by the masses of buyers and when one part is shocked millions buy anyway. Politics is responsible, but they also earn money from these business practices with... but with five major corporations determine Western technology, it's a little more complicated.

Several ways:
a) Renounce and you're the fool with nothing in your hand.
b) One does what is possible for oneself and can thus partially weaken. Whether filter lists or something else. I was already successful to "force" some devs and publisher to change or adjust mechanisms
c) Simply ingore everything and continue as before
d) Try something with the help of the GDPR and data protection laws (can also be combined with b)

I used an old hotmail address which seems to now be live.com and that worked as a microsoft account. Otherwise I would skip this or find a hack to disable the login requirement.

I will always love people whinning about this "issue" like there is NOOOOOO other game that requires you to have an external account, let's see, maybe every MMORPG for example?

@Panic Fire I just remember i had to use a key. If that is an account than i have an account.
@faithlesshero A Fake account with data like Donald Duck, Erpelweg 7 Entenhausen will work too?
@ Kanji/Hiragana Vielleicht nehme ich die Option komplette Fake Adresse á la Donald Duck Entenhausen mit Frank geht ran. Der Titel selber scheint in mein Profil zu passen. Es juckt mich in den Fingern (siehe c) :(

Xbox Live account is used for Crossplay. Stop crying over stupidity

there is issues, Xbox live account had save some of your background game, sure as unlocking cloth, ect, but there is bug, like bounty broker, if you got task done and got cloth but for some reason you couldn't unlock by click on that cloth icon, and detele game then start new game, it's still locked, and you meet bounty broker, but sady that task is done and you stucked with locked item forevers, unless you create other new xboc live account with other email, I don't know there is clean out saved game, sure delete your game, but not something like unlock or locked item, you stuck with them even bug.

You will be able to fix that with the community editor mod.
