Hi,
since today I'm getting this error message when launching Borderlands2 in full screen mode.
Only option is to set windowed mode.
Never had this problem before.
Things that happened yesterday and might be related: Steam client update and installation of another game (Deadlight) which had the same problem, fixed by setting windowed mode as well.
Is anybody experiencing the same problem out of the blue?

Thanks
Bye
Sergio

go to "*your steam installation drive*:/steam/steamapps/common/Borderlands 2/binaries/Redist/DXRedistCutdown/ and launch the "DXSETUP.exe" and try again.

Thanks Jellypuff: DXSETUP.exe didn't immediately fixed the issue so I rebooted the machine and things are ok now. Cheers

if you didn't shut down/rebooted your PC after the error popped up and before you rebooted your PC, then i'm pretty sure THAT alone was the fix. :P
or it has been fixed, because steam restarted, too.

installing dx runtime lib's usually doesn't require a user to reboot his/her machine.

rebooting fixes 99% of the issues, that people have with windows PC's.

I actually have the same problem, but restarting or running DXSETUP.exe didn't work for me, I have also tried running the game in windowed mode, but that didn't work as well. I finally tried to run the game with Integrated graphics instead of high performance NVIDIA processor. Though the game runs now, the game play is not as smooth as before. (it might be my imagination) Does anyone know how to fix it such that I can run the game with NVIDIA?

My issue is that the game was trying to run at a resolution beyond what my screen is capable of, switched it back to 1080p and it was fine

So had this very same issue and found that Nvidia Experience had set resolution to 4k so changed down to 1080 and launched fine.

Thiss fixed it for me. Geforce experience decided to upscale it for some reason and reverting the settings made it run again.

This was my issue too. For whatever reason the resolution was changed in the settings. I didn't change anything.... after I reverted the resolution setting to what my monitor resolution is everything ran fine. Thanks!

Thanks. This solution solved my problem. Funny, after a recent Windows update, it discovered a new resolution mode. But my monitor does not really support it.
