Game keeps disconnecting

Are the Steam servers messed up today? As i play for a minute, the message that says "You connection to Steam servers was lost" pops up, then says i'm connected again, THEN disconnects again and attempts to throw me into the main menu, but instead it's in an infinite loop between the loading screen and the message that says "Creating online session", as in, can't even use the main menu and have to Alt+F4 the game. The internet was disconnected today however on purpose today in my home while i was playing the game, could that have messed something up? I did restart the game and Steam to see if that fixes things, but nothing.

It is the game trying to connect to the SHIFT servers that is causing this 'create an online session' loop.
If you lose connection to Steam servers the game will just be put into LAN mode. Or at least it used to before 2K forced the new crossplay via SHIFT bs on everyone.

Here's what worked for me.
Load into a game and make it friends only then quit to main menu and hopefully it'll connect you to the shift servers.
