Game keeps crashing on start up with "msvcr100.dll" error.
Hi guys,

so I just came back to BL2 after a few months and after I "press any key", the game goes on to search for downloadable content and it starts to "download updates" and then it crashes and I get a "fatal error msvcr100.dll"

I have tried many remedies such as:
reinstalling Microsoft .net 4 client profile
reinstalling Microsoft visual studio
reinstalling Microsoft C++ Redistributable Package 2010 x86 and x32
using "verify local game cache" in steam
launching from Borderlands 2 exe instead of the launcher
creating steam_appid.txt in Win32 folder with content: 49520
refreshing my computer
resetting/reformatting my computer
using system file checker via cmd
running the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool
copying msvcr100.dll from my win32 folder into both the game folder in Program files and Documents.
and many other fixes but they all don't work
the closest I got to getting the game to work was reinstalling and it only worked once after that. (i found out that if i kept launching the game it works 1/100 times, i spent 5 hours launching and crashing and it worked once perfectly)

I am truely desperate as the 2k Support team stopped replying my emails and Windows Support said there was nothing wrong with my system? Or might I have done one of the fixes wrong?

Please help as I just got 3 other friends to buy the game but I cant play with them now.

Any help would be immensely appreciated :D

just an update,

so far the thing that has seemed to make the most progress was downloading a copy of msvcr100.dll online and copying it into the binaries folder in the Borderlands 2 folder but i get another error that says "the procedure entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MDVCP100.dll"

for some reason the error become msvcp100.dll instead of msvcr100.dll now.

but if i use the msvcr100.dll from my win32 or SysWoW64 it gives the same msvcr100.dll error.

If it used to work, an obvious question would be, what has changed on your system since then? If it's been a while, you may not remember what hardware/drivers/etc. may have been changed since then, but if it used to work and it doesn't now, then presumably something changed and that's what's causing the problem.

You could also try removing the game and reinstalling, if you haven't already tried that (I didn't see it in your list).

Hmm, I'm not sure about software but as far as i know i havent installed anything except newer games. Since I'm running on a laptop i haven't gotten any new hardware or drivers as well. The only thing that comes to mind would probably be windows updates?

I have also done a reinstall at least 5 times but it doesnt seem to work =/

I guess it's possible that a Windows update broke something, but I have no idea what that might have been. I don't know what else to suggest at this point. Sorry.
