This is from a fresh install of the game upon joining someone else's game

I honestly don't know what the errors are saying, but the first thing I would try is having Steam verify the game cache. Maybe you have some corrupted/missing game files. It's normal for 1 BL2 file to fail.

i did verify it and it still crashed the same way

Have you intalled the game through CD or downloading?
1)go in properties untick sychronise with cloud->reinstall
2)delete the files you just posted above->untick synchronise with cloud and verify game files

Downloading, duh. and that seems like a bad idea since those files came w/ the game

Since you said that the crash happens when you try to join a game, I assume that the game plays fine if you just play solo?

I did some searching and was reminded of one scenario that has caused errors like that. When you're joining the other game, do they happen to be in the Tina DLC? I think Mines of Avarice, in particular, was a problem for some. IAC, if you're joining a friend, have them go somewhere like Sanctuary before you try to join.

Yeah he was in the Tina DLC. I hadn't selected a character yet (so it showed an invisible lvl 1 Commando as the pre-selected one). I have all the DLCs so it was just weird.

Solo games do work fine. Once i actually chose a character prior to joining his game it worked fine.

Interesting. Thanks for letting us know.

still shouldn't crash if i haven't pre-selected a character but :/ w/e i guess
