Game Crash?

This only started happening recently, but whenever I do the Brick mission or right after, my controller completely stops working and my player keeps walking forward. I can use the mouse and keyboard but even then you still keep walking forward. I can’t pause the game, I can’t open task manager to close it, then I go to restart the computer but its stuck on restart and I have to completely shut down and I lose my progress (even though I save a bunch by exiting and reloading). It only happens with Borderlands 2, I honestly can’t find answers and I don’t wanna give up because I’ve gotten so much accomplished. Any help is appreciated!
