Mad Dog in Lynchwood dead in a place I can't reach :( Anyway to reset quests?

I as doing the quest in Lynchwood where at some point you have to get explosives form Mad Dog. I got there, killed everybody and didn't see thisi Mad Dog guy... but the map shows that he was supposed to be there, so after jumping around, I dropped from the place where the explosive detonator is, and while falling I saw Mad Dog dead half-inside a rock next to a pipe.

I don't know how he got there, but there is no way to grab the item :( I tried a lot of times, and you just fall to your death. While dying you can see the blue line telling the quest item is there, but no way to grab it.

Is there a way to reset a quest? I tried leaving lynchwood and returning but only the normal enemies respawned. Please tell me something can be done about this D:

Same thing happened to me. I ran down the platform to loot the containers and ended up knocking him over the railing. The only way I could continue the Mission was to quit the game.

What do you mean? If you close Borderlands, then open the application again, does he revive?

You don't have to close the entire program. Just exit the game you're in and then hit "Continue" or reload your character.

It worked! I was able to finish the quest :)
