**SOLVED** BL2 "patch required" for DLC; Steam shows no updates
I recently installed BL2 on Windows 11 to play online with a friend. However, when I launch the game, an error message pops up stating "Patch required: Some of your downloadable content requires a more recent version of the game. Please install the latest game update." I noticed when I view the matchmaking queue (which is blank), it shows that I have Version 1.0.0 installed. My friend said their version (running on Linux with no issue) shows 2.0.0 and they're able to see matches. I found several articles about crossplay issues but the solution was for the Windows user(s) to downgrade their version, which doesn't seem to be possible in this case. When I verify the integrity of the files, it either gives no results or states "2 files failed to validate and will be reacquired," but nothing seems to change. I've tried running Steam, BL2 and its launcher in compatibility mode for Windows 8 (the most recent version it offers), but then the game won't even launch. I've also tried a clean install of both Steam and BL2 with no success. My Shift account is linked to my Steam account, but the Shift page inside BL2 doesn't give me an option to log in and keeps timing out when it tries to connect. Clearing Steam's download cache and reinstalling the game changed nothing. Otherwise I can play the game just fine in single player, but it seems that I'm playing an outdated version of the game and can't update it.

TLDR: I'm unable to play BL2 multiplayer on Windows 11 because it keeps downloading as Version 1.0.0 and won't let me log into Shift. Has anyone experienced a similar issue and/or found a solution? I'm worried this might be an OS issue and I'd rather not go through the hassle of downgrading to Windows 10 if possible.

I still haven't found a solution even after 3 weeks of having open tickets with both Steam and 2k support. 2k thinks it might be a license issue with my region, so I'm currently trying to revoke the BL2 license on Steam to redeem a new license provided by 2k. I'll post an update if anything changes.

Keep me updated, super frustrating.

Update:

2k let me know they've escalated the ticket and are communicating with their Digital Distribution team as well as Steam & Gearbox. They now see it's not just a local issue but something to do with the Pandora's Box license within Steam's database and that there's an issue with the licensing for specific depots and patch data. They let me know this will likely take a while to resolve on their end, but on the bright side it seems the issue has finally been narrowed down and they're working towards an actual solution.

2k just released an update to address the patch data error on their end, and the issue seems to be resolved for me. If you're still having this issue, try restarting Steam and checking to see if there's an update queued for Borderlands 2!
