Borderlands 2 GOTY won't redeem.

Hi, so i already own bl2 base game. I recently wanted to get the dlc's so i bought a key on g2a. Obviously for GOTY edition. Now i cant redeem the key on neither a fresh account nor mine. It says that i already own the products associated with this account. I've searched the internet and for everybody it just upgraded the game. Thanks for help in advance.

I'm not sure why the key won't redeem, but you would have to notify Steam Support. One of two things by the way, Steam Support COULD give you a refund or take the key and give you what you want (if that's possible) or the key is faulty/expired.

The fact that Steam censors the site name should tell you something about it. That site is notorious for credit card fraud - stolen credit cards are used to buy a key from somewhere and it then gets sold on the [censored] site. Credit card companies will get involved and when Steam checks up on the validity of the key and find it has been bought with a stolen card, they will have nothing more to do with it. Your loss.

There may well be something dodgy with the key you have. Try getting a refund from them. Steam will not give you a refund because you bought the key elsewhere, but I would get in touch with Steam support and see what they have to say about it.

Damn, i didn|t even notice the page was censored. I can pretty much say for sure that it would be the key. Thanks for the help lads. Still no way im buying it for 45 euro from steam.

Have a look at the macgamestore. The keys are often on sale there. They sell a Steam key which will work on PC as well as Mac.

Thanks, for the tip, though i'm scared the same case will happen where i cant buy goty while owning the game.

Buying a GOTY key from somewhere reputable and redeeming it on Steam should not be an issue. You will not get a 'spare' game. You will just get everything that you didn't have already. If you have the base game, you can still buy the GOTY on Steam if you want, and doing so is often the most sensible way to get the 'missing' content. The price will not be adjusted depending on what you have already though, unlike the Handsome Collection.
