Catch-A-Rocket is killing enemies with a direct hit. AoE launchers are bad for this, although the Topnea works well. Torgue launchers too, but not the Nukem.
What character is suffering from this bug?
Btw, that character that suffers from this bug is Zer0.
If you've completed all 5 levels of Splish Splash and Catch-A-Rocket is still "undiscovered", then I guess you have hit a bug, and I don't know if there's any way to fix it for that character. You could try using Gibbed (the BL2 save file editor), but I don't know if it can edit a character's challenge progress.
Also, since you seem to be unclear on this ...
You mentioned using the Nukem, and then other Torgue launchers, for Catch-A-Rocket, and that Catch-A-Rocket is still "undiscovered". Getting hits that count towards a challenge has nothing to do with "discovering" a challenge. "Undiscovered" (normally) just means that you haven't completed the prerequisite yet. The game should be keeping track of any hits that count towards that challenge, but you won't see the count until you complete the prerequisite and the challenge is "discovered". Then any completed challenge levels will be immediately cleared.
I'm afraid of using Gib though as it might cause some problems in-game but yeah i'll just have a back-up svae just in case.
Yeah thanks for clarifying that bit. I'm actually confused as to why it still counts as undiscovered because I know for a fact that it can be automatically cleared once you've completed a certain pre requisite for a challenge. *sigh* Bugs for life
If you try Gibbed, good luck. I tried to find the challenge info in Gibbed once, but had no luck. But maybe I just didn't look in the right place.
Oh so in addition to cheating my way I also have to look for it. welp guess i'll just make a new character who goes on a rampage with rocket launchers I guess
Anyway, Thank you so much for replying bro. Have fun in the Borderlands!
Thanks to you too bro.
Why?
If you're talking about starting a new character just to work on the Catch-A-Rocket challenge, I'm guessing that you're trying to get the achievement for completing the first level of the non-map/non-DLC challenges. If so, that has to be done with a single character, so completing the first level of a challenge with a different character won't help. You'd have to complete the first level of all of the other required challenges with that character too.
Oh man am I stupid. Thank you for reminding me. Good thing I haven't started playing yet.
FWIW, you could eventually get another chance to complete those challenges with that character. If you complete 85% of the non-DLC/non-map challenge levels (not challenges, but challenge levels) with a character, you'll have the option to reset (ie. clear) the challenge progress for that character (including the DLC and map challenges), and start completing challenges again.
That's not necessarily any easier that doing it with a different character (you have to complete all of the same challenge levels either way). It just means that you don't necessarily have to start a new character just to try to earn that achievement.
However, my concern, if I were you, would be that there was actually something wrong with your old character, and you'd end up running into the same glitch again. With that in mind, if you did do a challenge reset and try to earn the achievement with that character, I would start with the launcher challenges and see if Catch-A-Rocket unlocks.
and i don't think there's a way with the Profile editor either.
The Profile Editor presumably won't help, since the character challenge progress must be stored in the save files (profile.bin could get huge if it was storing the challenge progress for every character, since you could literally have thousands of characters).
i deleted the entry " Launchers long distance " (or some such) and now Sky Rockets in Flight is not showing up in my Challenge list in-game.
lucky i don't use launchers often.
