A new Guard page for the Stack cannot be created

Decided to play some BL2 again to fill the time. But every time I try to launch the game I get "A new guard page for the Stack cannot be created".

I tried closing Steam, I restarted my PC, I tried verifying the integrity of the files, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. But I just cannot get the problem to go away.

I can't even find a fix on google, most of the answers I found either were "I have this problem too" or stuff about in depth coding that I can't even pretend to follow.

That's a new one on me. Looking at the old post below, it seems that someone was getting this when they tried to start the game from Steam, but they could run the game directly, so try just running Borderlands2.exe . You may also need to set it to "Run as administrator"?

I actually found a... way around it that I just don't understand.

I launched GeForce Experience and reduced the graphical settings.

I tried running in every compatibility mode and running as administrator.

Weird, but at least you got it working.

Out of curiosity, was PhysX one of the things that you changed? That has been known to cause various problems in BL2. I don't remember seeing that specific error mentioned before, but you never know.

It was. And actually trying to launch BL2 from steam still gets the error, but if I launch from the Geforce Experience it works fine.

So overall, I am just more confused. But happy I found a work around, even if everything about it seems odd to me.
