LAN game in my household
My son and I could play Borderlands(1) coop together on my home network using a single purchased game/license. Borderlands 2 does not allow us to do this without buying yet another copy. This is sadly disappointing because we looked forward to playing BL2 together. I imagine there will not be much discussion on this, but if there is a way we can play together, would someone post how. I simply cannot afford two copies in my household.

A little more info would be nice thank you, how did you do that? (Unless using cracked version) Did you guys buy Retail or on an online copy? Di you buy a Co-op pack or just one single standard copy?

I had a retail version. After I completed the game the first time, I was able to initiate a LAN game. My son loaded the c/d and we could play a coop LAN game. No problem and we had a great time with it. I was looking forward to doing the same with BL2.
Well sounds pretty lucky there :) since Steam is required, and if you only have bought a single retail (Unless you bought a 2 or 4 copies version of it) Did you have Steam enabled or anything?

We had a Walmart purchased plain brown retail game with BL(1). I finished the game in single player mode and then I tried setting up a LAN game with my son. It worked great. I did have a Steam account but I don’t remember if I needed to logon to Steam to play it. Anyway, my son has been bugging me for BL2, so I bought it thinking we could play together again. No dice. I had him start a different character on my computer thinking it would allow us to play via LAN selecting our own characters. Whenever I try to logon to Steam using my son’s machine, Steam says I’m already logged on elsewhere. It logs me off when I logon to my son’s machine. Sad because it was a nice way for me to relate to my son… not easy for a dad these days. :(

Cozmo, there is a way around it, that is if you don't mind seeing your steam name turning up twice. Now I did this to power level a character while doing some terra farming.
Log into your steam account on the other machine, make sure BL2 is installed, set this steam to offline mode(Steam > Go Offline), run borderlands 2. It should (at least I was able) to detect and join LAN games at least.
