Does Zero suck?
I read many stories of being leaving him at lvl "x" because they feel like he's weak, why is this? I was thinking of rolling him.

his melee build is one of the most powerful builds in the game by the end. you 1 hit everyone but goliatha and certain badasses, and 2-3 hit those, plus, every time you kill someone, it extends the time you're invisible, leading to chain-one-hitting entire towns while invisible
Zer0 isn't weak per se. Hes just... odd. Each of his trees are okay, but few people LIKE playing as him. Tree 1, sit in the back and snipe. Not many people in BL2. Tree 2, Support tree, not very good for single. Tree 3, get in there, stab them, stab, stab, stab, miss a stab and lose your cloak. That one is just a tad repetetive. Its not that he sucks, but that he is boring.
i finished the first playthrough with him literally minutes ago. gotta start over now :) lol
I dont really like Zero. I have alevel 50, ive tried a ton of different setups, and there just isnt a build for my style of playing. That isnt to say he isnt good, as ive see people 2-3 hit terra before as zero. Its just that you kind of have to be jesus for that.
Zer0 is my personal fav, since I like sniping, he's also handy with a shotgun I've found.
He is one of the more 'difficult' classes to play. Especially when leveling, as most of his mid-tree skills are rather bland.

But once you get Many Must Fall or Tw0 Fang, he starts to shine. He isn't the best melee, that goes to gaige, but he is 'faster' than gaige and doesn't need to build buffs in order to slaughter. His cunning tree is a great hybrid tree than can support several play styles, and Tw0 fang is a fairly awesome skill to invest in when using a shotty. His sniper tree is somewhat lackluster, as most of his skills are either passive or simply don't work well in the field (the critical stacks fall too quickly).

Zer0 offers some of the highest Damage of all the classes, he just takes a bit more time to get into.
I level'd him melee, and loved him, got to level 50 and hated him, melee he sucks vs terra warrior and the raid bosses... pretty much usless, and his other 2 trees are boring, i ditched him soon after.

I solo'd Terra as melee Zer0, and solo'd Hyperion with melee as well. I'm sure gee is possible as well, though it might take longer. The Warrior and BNKER are the only two bosses that come to mind as being impossible as melee. Change up your gear or playstyle, and pretty much everything is viable as melee.

2 bosses hardly make up the entire game, when it comes to everything else, melee is fine.

Now at the end...i must say Zer0 sucks =P I really like playing a sniper so thats not the point but against the Invincible Bosses i think Zer0 is the weakest especially in solo play. I think at the moment the two most useful classes are Siren and Grunzerker.

I'm level 42 with him and I love it. I think Zero is the best fit for me though, I like sniping and melee very specifically. The builds are sick - Sniping with a good rifle (as in good damage with great +crit% and with perhaps a relic for accuracy or recoil reduction) absolutely demolishes enemies in the crit spots. Shoot fast enough and you can get those +6% crit damage stacks and just.. ravage. You should like sniping though. Also, Be One with The Gun allows you to snipe from your hip - you very easily can second wind with your rifle even at a distance, just aim for the head. You're never really in a bad position. Course, longbow transfusion grenades never hurt..

Alternatively go melee with Law for the +100% melee damage (and Order if you so choose) and the Many Must Fall is basically teleportation for short distances garnished with ridiculous damage that never ends once you get the hang of attacking critical spots. You can actually 'dash forward' teleport into the sky after bandits and melee them. Once you get the hang of the general HP of your enemy and can be patient to let the damage build and to know when to strike, you're just an invisible storm of death through towns. Goliaths take 2-3 hits but if you can find a shotgun that does +melee damage, once you nail him with your melee and break stealth you can bury him with the shotgun at that close range.

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love Zero. I have a siren and she's very -useful- in a team but Zero is just.. fun as hell. So much damage. So much death.

I haven't tried the Cunning tree; I see it as a very poor support tree that does not nearly utilize his full damage capabilities if its invested in primarily. Beside the first three skill tiers, doesn't offer anything exceptional. Once you're level ~40 though of course you're going to be investing in Cunning - you'll have filled out one of the other two trees.
Question:

Does Tw0 Fang apply to melee attacks?

Gotta disagree here. Gaige is it, hands down.

Her Ordered Chaos tree esentially allows you to run right up to any enemy in the game and 1 hit everything, without your shields ever getting dented. The same tree also offers viable boss soloing through Discord and Anarchy stacks. Gaige is a beast.

Tw0 Fang doesn't apply to melee, but I have to disagree with your assumption that Cunning isn't supportive. It works very well for boss fights, the Kunai coupled with the health regen while Deception'ed is enought to keep you alive most fights. Coupled with the damage skills it offers, you have a tree that supports melee in boss fights and gunplay any other time.

Word. I'll check it out now. I'm just now in the level ranges to be able to invest in it while keeping my main tree filled. That sounds great.. health regen while deceptioned would be excellent.

Edit: Kind of wish i'd saved those Cunning type class mods now. Hmm. Going to respec anyways, want to see how deadly those kunai are.

I soloed everything in Playthrough 1, including Terramorphous, and have gotten through about 75% of TVHM alone. I'd hardly say he's "weak." XD
main reason why zero hard to play is fact takes awhile for you build up his tree skill to make difference. i have all my sniper skill done but 2 in one slot. still have 12 left to spend bloodshed skill set. to make as zero its not wise to go all in one tree. for some reason sniper will need iron hands and F0ll0wthr0ugh. i was not sure if better just to get my sniper skill all way down first or not. so i got all way down first. then finished Vel0city. now work my way to F0ll0wthr0ugh at 5 levels for bonus. you will find way you spend your skill points will make hard or easy base on how you spend them.
Dunno about Zero, but Salvador is boring as hell imo.
