Stuck on gluttonous thresher, impossible to continue
I've gotten to the point where I have to kill a giant thresher to get a beacon, but this thing is impossible to kill, mostly because of a very infuriating bug which allows the thresher to attack me through cover.

And I don't mean where 2 or 3 tentacles come up behind me - I mean I'm sitting behind some very thick, very wide, very high cover that the thresher shouldn't be able to hit me through, and yet it still manages to reach -right through the cover- (not around it) and hit me, which kills me in about 2 shots.

I've tried 10 times and I've never managed to get its health below 75%. I've pretty much given up at this point, seeing as there's no way for me to continue the game at all.

Does anyone know how to kill this thing? Because I have no idea.

What level are you? Maybe try some side quests to level up a bit more before facing the thresher again. I was able to do it on my first try, but I had done a load of side quests and leveled up quite a bit.

Yep - this is the point where I went doing some sidequests to get higher level and better weapons. Once I finished all available sidequests, I managed to kill him pretty easily.

Run out to the last area, it's right out the big door and next to the river. Around the corner, to the left, there are some boxes. Hide behind those. The thresher will come through the door too, but only so far. He won't follow you to the boxes. Jump out and shoot him before ducking behind cover. I've done this a number of times with different characters. It takes a bit, but the cover is good and you won't have to change cover.

I found that if you leave the area a little, and come back, you can utilize some of the GUN Loaders that drop in to kill him for you, they wont kill him all the way, but it helps to take pot shots with a shock weapon to reduce his armor, but don't shoot him so much that he goes for you.

Also try to pull a surveyor over to repair the Loaders, as it will be distracted when the thresher is hurting them so badly.

I also stand by the heavy duty door you have to use to even get into the field, as I found that he can't go through it, and you can corner cut him easily and just unload if he does come over.

I took cover between the wall of the last white building and the map's border. You'll be able to shoot him at medium range. Hide there quickly once he spawns, leave your cover, he surfaces, shoot, go back to cover and so on. Just be quick enough to avoid his attacks and don't stay too close of the building's corner.

if you follow my video, you wont have to shoot and go back to cover

Sorry to necro, but this thing was just too bulls*** for me.

I ultimately killed it with an electric sniper rifle and a corrosive pistol.
What you need to do is jump onto the two crates RIGHT BY your respawn point. The Thresher gets his pathfinding confused and he'll never get close to you. Just wail on him whenever he comes out of his hole.

It not leaving the place is not true, at least not anymore; he literally WILL follow you even if you leave the gate and head to wear you dropped down. And he hits you with everything no matter if you move, duck, have tons of collision in the way, etc; ALL of his attacks, from the tendrils to the projectiles, ignore collision data. Making this the stupidest boss I have currently ever faced as ONE mistake means instant death, even though it's level 12 and I'm level 24, using properly geared PURPLES gained from GOLDEN KEYS.

Run right up to the beacon and empty as many rounds as you can as it rises up, explosive weapons are best. That will empty the health bar.

It will then dive underground. If you are not using explosive weapons then switch to a shock weapon as it will come up with only a shield.

Stay as close as you can, it is the tentacles that are the main danger and they are most dangerous when you are at a distance.

If that does not work then try running to the corner of the building in the far left corner as you run up to the beacon. Just keep on running past and use the corner of the building as cover. The Thresher cannot get past the building and the tentacles do not reach. You then only have to take care not to get hit by the stones.

Then just wittle away at range. Loaders will eventually arrive and you can use them as a distraction.

The Thresher is probably the hardest boss in the game (raid bosses not included). There was a point that I died 3 times in a row and became frustrated, but I just need to use better weapons. I always go behind the buildings closest to where you enter the thresher area. He can't go there, but will throw stuff at you, but there's still a large spot where he doesn't have line of sight and can't hit you. Use shock weapons to get his shield down then fire weapons. The loaders are actually a problem for me as they will arrive at my back from where I'm positioned and force me to take firepower away from the thresher, allowing it to regenerate shields. Choice of character class matters a lot too. Never died once with Gunzerker or Gaige in any playthrough. I think my problem came as zero or Axton, forgot which.

Else, if needed I can help kill him, just add me, and let me know. :)
