Loot falling through map

So I've been suspecting this for some time but just thought all along I was paranoid and seeing things. But I swore purples and blues were dropping and when I would run up to the area there would be nothing. Then today I killed Bloodwings stand-in and managed to actually see it happen. As I took the final shot I stayed scoped in and watched loot fall right through the floor and disappear. I've had money do partial drops through the floor and I'm still able to pick it up by standing right above it and looking straight down on it. But this was totally different. The loot and vertical loot indicator beam dropped right through and were gone.

Anyone see this problem or have a fix? I love this game and want to keep loving it. But its kind of like a kick in the nuts watching loot just go poof. Thankfully I haven't seen an orange do it yet.. that will so hurt if it ever happens.

That's brutal. I'm going to just start imagining it falls randomly into someone elses game and eventually it will come back to me.

if you want loot just play co-op and you'll find someone who will open the skeleton chest for you a bunch of times

You may have a damaged game install. You can try deleting the game and the Direct-X componets. Deleted your video drivers and re-install them. Then reinstall the game and Direct-X update. Just like high speed race cars, high speed computers need tuning too!

I've heard of this a lot and it finally happened to me the other day. I finished a mission with one other person. Went back to pandora right next to the save spot and wanted to show the other player what we got and figure out who wants what. You know playing fair.....anyway I dropped them so he could look and poof gone right through the floor. Both purple and I didn't reall care about them that much but if it was orange I might have freaked out. I don't think it's direct x....could be but I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything so many times to get this game to work perfect so I must assume its a glitch of some sort. Oh we'll hope it gets fixed soon. Still a great great game.

Does it a lot by the gold key chest. I always run to the low ground on the way to moxxi's to drop

This has happened to me many times on almost 1/15 purple or blue drops and once I think even for an orange weapon. It's a nuisance but I can live with it because it's not the last of the loot I'll see. :D

I noticed it like the third day I got the game. What's awesome is I wa sopening the gold chest and dropped my weapon by accident, i guess I tapped the E in for too long and it swapped the gun,a nd lost my insanely powerful purple corrosive maliwan sniper rifle... sniffles... but it's ok. If you truly love something, you let it go, and if it's mean to be it will come back to you.

Only time I had this happen was on the bridge in Frostburn canyon, where the Badass Psychos spawn. Fortunately I retrieved the purple loot UNDER the bridge!

ive had my character fall through what should of been solid - and got stuck so i had to quit

its called clipping

like in DOOM the code idnoclip lets you walk through walls

Yep - same here.... there's quite some clipping issues. You can get stuck in scenery when you reach parts that you weren't supposed to tread on. And parts that look solid ( mosttimes near cliffs) that you can fall through.

Loot sometimes drops through solid terrain. I guess Gearbox scripted the drops with clipping disabled for the first few 0.5 seconds or so. Probably to avoid loot getting stuck in ceilings, inadvertently making it fall through floors.

this game is full of clipping errors the game is still fun , i just don't understand that gear box did not learn anything from BL1.

This happened when I beat the game. Killed Jack and saw something orange fly out only to land next to the warrior's body and sink into the floor never to be seen again. I don't even know what it was. GRRR!
