Echo recordings and conversations... why no playback option?
I was wondering why they didn't add the playback option like they had in the previous game... for those who are new to Borderlands, in the first game you could replay a recording of any conversation you had or any echo recording you've heard.

The reason why I'm so bothered by this is that sometimes I've missed something and want to hear it again, or (like what just happened literally 4 minutes ago) I picked up an Echo device that I really wanted to hear but another player started conversing with me over the radio a split second after I picked it up, and as a result I didn't hear a single word from the Echo recording.

Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone bothered by this besides myself? Maybe I'm just retarded, but is there a way to replay previous conversations and I've just missed it?

Yep had recordings cut off on a few occasions. Was a bit frustrating especially when it was an Echo that cut off an NPC in the middle of giving me instructions...

You're definitely not the only one annoyed by this issue. The first time I ran into it, I did some searching and there are already quite a few people complaining about this. I was able to find some of what I missed on Youtube, but it really is an oversight that you can't replay the messages from within the game, especially when you consider that the game itself cuts off some of the dialogue on many occasions.

BL1 always had the option of replaying the recordings as many times as you wanted. I don't know why this ability was taken out of BL2.

It makes no sense. You would think that it'd be an easy think to implement, too.

I think it is likely to be included in the future as so many people hate that it cannot be done, figers crossed...

Yeah, I missed quite a lot of echoes that way, and they all are significant in a way.

Agree 100%. I'd love to be able to go back and listen to the echos without having to hunt them down again.

Difference is..

BL2 isnt built on communication as much as it was on BL1.

Everything you need to know you can find out by clicking on the quest and reading the information on it.

The only "directions" type issue i have is the mini map sucks. i kinda miss the compass.

Borderlands may not be built on communication or story, but that's not the point. Some of the funniest ♥♥♥♥ I've ever heard has come from Borderlands, and it's a shame to miss any second of it. I can't tell you how many times I replayed the echo recording in BL1 with Scooter saying "Smokin' Jesus titty cinnamon that thing is a monster! That's gonna be SWEET!"

Same here . I noticed this on day one of playing. I was placated by the fact that any info i needed was found in the quest log.
Still I'd like to see this changed.
Here here! sorry for resurecting this thread, but I fully agree! BL1 had so many crazy ECHO recordings thatw ere halarious xD My problem is I usually clear an area by sniping, then go in to loot and *wham* enemies respawn just as I've picked up an echo D: so through gunfire I miss 1/2 of themessage D:

Yeah, youtube will have to do, I guess. Still, there's a lot of funny ♥♥♥♥ I've missed that I wish I could hear again.
