If the saves are on steam cloud, yes.

Best if you manually transfer them. Steam cloud sometimes has some difficulty, or it might transfer an older save or something. I just have some bad experience with it losing hours of progress.

You can find the saves, if you used default config, by typing borderlands 2 in start, then clicking the BL2 folder. From there, open Willowgame, SaveData, and copy the folder with the serie of numbers. That's your save file, so if you keep that on a usb stick or something, you can't go wrong. Or at least use it as a back up in case the steam cloud doesn't work as you'd hoped.

Good luck.

Yeah, your best option is to always manually transfer saves. Steam's Cloud is nice but every now and then you'll get errors where the local save is considered out of sync with the one on the cloud, or where Steam won't see local or cloud saves w/o a restart. I know where all my saves are for every game and I keep regular backups of the important ones to a private cloud drive just in case.

I'm with these guys. Make a manual backup of your saves even if you're using Steam cloud. I'm certain I've seen at least 5 posts this week alone from ppl who thought they were gonna be available in Steam Cloud, but never recovered their game saves.

I'm a noob, I could kick myself in the behind for this if I could... I just recently upgraded my whole life from a laptop to a proper gaming PC. I had 2 characters on BL2 that I loved to play, one was a Lv58 Mechromancer, not to mention the countless numbers of epic loot I had stored... So now, here's my problem, I formatted the old laptop because I will sell it and I did not think of backing up my BL2 character files.

I installed BL2 on the new pc and ofc, it started a new game and my characters are nowhere to be found. Manually transferring files is no longer an option for me, please someone tell me there is a solution to this!! Should I go cry to BL2 Support if that even exists? What to do? HALP!!!

Worst case scenario you could install gibbed save editor and, if you remember your gear and such, you can insert a new comparable character. Downside is, you'd lose your achievements/challenges. My recommendation is to just remake the old ones and pick up from there.

Backup your save data folder (documents>games>borderlands2>willowgame>save data)
to a memory stick, then when you install bl2 into your new hard drive, plug your mem stick into your new pc and paste them into the same place, then you have transferred all your saves, and you have a handy backup on an external device for if anything ever goes wrong with them :) hope this advice helps
