Strange Eridium Room In Thousand Cuts

I suppose this has been asked before, but I couldn't find anything. If you go down multiple sets of staircases into the central canyon, you end up is a cave that has a dais and some Eridium blocks at the back. There are two pillars, one on either side. What is this? You can't seem to do anything with it. I peeked through the opening to the right at the back, and saw the same graphics that indicate a level exit or entrance to another one. Is there something to this?

Spoiler alert: After you beat Jack, a mission unlocks from Tannis to kill a lvl 50 raidboss. You should go do true vault hunter mode to get to 50, then switch back to normal and finish off Terramorphous.

Yeah, thanks. Not new to the game - just never knew that was where you get to Terramorphous. I've got the mission a few times, but never bothered with it, as I don't bother with multiplayer. I just wondered what it was.
