What IS It With The Lack Of Corrosive Weapons AT The Beginning of The Game
I started a new character, after playing through with Mechro, Commando, Siren. What baffles me is that right up to rescuing Roland at the Bloodshot Ramparts, I found DOZENS of Fire Weapons, Electrical Weapons, Explosive Weapons of every possible type ........but absolutely NO CORROSIVE WEAPONS OF ANY KIND. Anywhere, I tried every vending machine I could find. No drops, Nothing in chests. So I had to try to rescue Roland and of course couldn't at the Ramparts. But I still haven't found any to try to rescue him at the Friendship Gulag.

Thing is, I've had this SAME damn problem with EVERY CHARACTER right at the start. No corrosive weapons anywhere. Luckily, I was able to transfer one between characters that were close to my level, and got one that way. Don't have those anymore, and my other characters are way too high level now. But It baffles me as to why the game seems to always do this - to me, anyway.

I also find it strange that in all the playthoughs I have done with all three characters I've played, in Vault Hunter, and True Vault Hunter Modes, farming bosses like crazy, I've NEVER ONCE found the Bee Shield or the Conference Call Shotgun. In fact in all those times, I think I found TWO orange items from drops. Yet other people seem to find them easily.

Anyway, just my rant for the day.

The elements are introduced one at a time to better help you learn thier functions. Besides, it would be absolutely pointless to give tons of corrosive weapons in the beginning when there are no enemies prone to corrosion. Baby steps for a reason!

Well, I wasn't LOOKING for TONS! just ONE would have helped! Even a pistol. But really, that's reasonably far into the game. And if I am going to tackle Hyperion Robots and the like, shouldn't the game have dropped at least ONE weopon during the trek through the Bloodshot Stronghold? Luckily, I had a Golden Key, and as luck would have it, a Corrosive Sniper Rifle was in the chest on the first try! I went in and cleaned out Friendship Gulag and defeated W4R-D3N with no trouble at all. But STILL no Corrosive drops.

The very first "boss" you fight on the very first map dropped a corrosive hornet legendary for me last time I created a new character.

:bandit: heyooooooooooooooooooooo

Yep. You can farm Knuckledragger for the Hornet corrosive pistol.

My first (only so far only) playthrough I didn't get a single corrosive anything drop until after the Wilhelm fight, so I feel the OP's pain. I was looking for 'em too, because I remembered how awesome they were in BL1.

I had nada for corrosive up to that point. Had to use the golden chest and got lucky with a maliwan corrosive smg. My only shock weapon was doing nothing to anybody either.

Teapot is always corrosive and Tina gives it as quest reward for a quest you can take right after you get the bunny rockets from her

Also, though I wouldn't recommend wasting it on such low level trash, you can get the Bad Touch from Moxxi at any level. And the E-Tech pistol you get from Zed after killing Doc Mercy and the bandits can be corrosive. I prefer Shock though, so much more useful!

I really recommend keeping an eye on the Marcus Weapon Machines' Deal of the Days if it's so important to you. Still rare, but a little more likely than from a drop.

And like previously stated, you could farm the bosses Knuckledragger, Midge-mong, and Doc Mercy for corrosive weapons, but in my opinion it would be better to just keep levelling and not worry about it.

i recomend doing all the side quests available before entering the bloodshot stronghold and you will most likely find a corrosive weapon. corrosives wont become common until you hit a certain level and honostly if your not at that level and fighting armored enemies, being such a low level the corosives (if you did find one) wouldnt even help that much. all you can do is level up before getting into sticky situations, thats why the side quests are there.

Does Midge-Mong drop actual corrosive weapons? I know that it can drop the Torgue Kerblaster, but I've never seen it drop a corrosive gun.
Back on topic. I think that the reason they don't give any to you (at least, not commonly) is that otherwise, you could just eat through the feared Hyperion Loaders like a knife through water. The only difficult part would be the W4R-D3N, and that's because it has a shield.

All it takes is any sniper rifle to do that. Aim for the unarmored spot that connects the arms to the body or their eye for crits. As for the W4R-D3N, he usually doesnt even get to summon when I fight him. His eye is a nice big target for point blank shotgun crits.

@Diolacles:
I usually find at least 2 decent corrosive weapons before This point in the game (and have run it 5 times now), and thats with no extra farming runs. Usually one is also a sniper rifle making loaders stupidly easy to fight. You may not be looking hard enough, or you may also just be unlucky. Either is possible.

Not anything special, but he seems to have a wider loot table than other earlier bosses like Captain Flynt and is much quicker to farm. Pretty much once every two or three kills he drops an elemental weapon. But again, I wouldn't farm any of the bosses so early in the game. Just keep playing, doing side-quests, and everything you need is given to you to succeed.

Oh, and the Bee has really low drop rates. I've been playing since launch and still haven't gotten one from Hellquist.
