yea, assuming both gamers are god-tier gamers. Among more casual gamers you wouldn't notice. Just because my mouse is capable of super precise motion doesn't mean I don't have moments where I derp it and shoot around someone. I totally agree that in professional level tournaments they should absolutely segregate by control type since that wouldn't be fair to the peasant stick users.
And to you other guys, thank you, I must admit I've been using the term "peasant sticks" for a while to give the same friend a hard time, and am somewhat proud of the term.
Yea but there's way larger differences in PC hardware and that doesn't affect playing together. The new consoles would be able to handle it. If hardware differences prevent playing together then how can I play BF4 on my 3 year old laptop with a friend who just built a high-end gaming desktop? My system is light-years behind his and we have a lot of fun playing together. I don't know exactly what the specs on the new consoles are but if they can handle BF4 with 64 people I don't see how making some of those people PC players would make a difference, let alone co-op with two people in BL2.
It's far more likely the reason is money and rivalry. They know if you can only play with people on the same console, some people will simply buy a new console and the game again rather than not play with friends. And microsoft/sony probably don't want to do anything that would potentially help sony/microsoft, even if it helps them as well. After all, they're competitors.
What makes no sense to me is why microsoft doesn't do cross platform between the XBone/360 (maybe just Xbox Live in General) and PC. Microsoft makes windows and the xbox, that would only make them more money and give them a HUGE advantage over sony. Especially now that Diablo 3 is out for consoles. My buddy got it for his houses 360 rather than his comp, and I would love to be able to play with him.
as for people on about the keyboard and mouse verus pad, i'll have you know i finish in the top 5 on battlefield every game and i only play on pad so it actually comes down the the player and not the equipment you are using
Hey m8. Just to get clear with it cross over platform means pc to ps3 or xbox... today i have played portal 2 with my friend, and he got ps3, while i was on pc. Cross over platform is maybe possible in borderlands 2, just im not sure. Ill try tomorrow. In order to invite someone and play from different console you just both have to use steam or some 3rd party program. There is also alot of games wich can be played over pc to xbox or ps3. There is one way to play borderlands 2 over platforms and that is over some program different than steam. That means you both need to have pirated veraion of bl2 and some virus full software weeeee. Its just too hard to do it. Check on yt for more info. At least its possible.
Games for windows live (hint it turned out to be a fail). It is shutting down this summer.
Hallelujah!
A really good Idea, I wonder why Microsoft doesn't do this. But well, MS cares more for the Console-gamers..... but this would be damn awesome.
Which is ironic seeing as they have something like 85% control of PC gaming.
The problem, I think, is that Gearbox wouldn't do it if they can't get it to work across all platforms and not just two. Kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move to tell a third of players that they can't have cross-platform co-op because they didn't pick the right system. It would also, obviously, require Sony and Microsoft agreeing with each other.
