Audio issue with headphones
Hey everybody, i got an issue with borderlands 2 audio...

whenever i'm in game and i plug in my headphones 'cause of too much noise in my house, i get no sound whatsoever. I tried muting everything and increasing the volume again, but nothing. I have to exit the game completely and start it again to get sound with my headphones OR plug them before i start the game. Also, if i'm already playing with my headphones on and i decide to unplug them to use my speakers, i get no sound either... same thing... i have to close the game completely and then start it again to get any sound.

Has anyone experienced this? i'd really love the help 'cause i have plugging my headphones in the middle of a game and getting no sound, and i can't exit because then i'd have to start over again after beating a lot of enemies...

My system specs are:

Windows 7 Home Premium x64 SP1
Intel Core i5 3570 @3.4GHz processor
Asus P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
XFX Radeon 7870 Double D graphics card
2x4Gb Corsair Vengeance RAM

Everything in my system is updated whenever an update comes out for drivers, software, etc.

Yep I have this problem too. With the mic as well. For headphones I just plug them into my speaker instead of the audio out jack on my tower. Mic I leave plugged in constantly.

That's a workaround and it would work well if my speakers had a headphone and mic jack :( but unfortunately they don't... and i hate forgetting this issue and just plugging my headphones and then: ... no sound... lol.

I have this issue also, but unfortunately, I don't have a fix. My speakers don't have jacks either, and I just restart the game. What a P.I.T.A.!

IFKR!! Whenever you're playing without the headset and a friend comes and you wanna play without having to freaking write everything in the middle of a battle, you have to close the whole application, plug the headset and restart it... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste of time... i can't believe they don't have a fix for this... i shouldn't be too hard...

having the same problem hoping for a fix soon getting tired of having to either constantly use headphones, or restart my game whenever i want to talk on skype.

I just tested this, and Borderlands 2's sound works fine for me when I plug or unplug my headset while in-game.

I plug into the headphone jack on my Logitech 5.1 system.

So, I suspect there's something wonky about your systems, not the game itself.

Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium (x64), SP1
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
Sound Driver - 2.17.0008, July 2010
Speakers - Logitech G51 5.1 Surround
Headset - Sennheiser PC 360

Edit: added OS to list
Edit 2: removed superfluous "Speakers"

You have a dedicated soundcard. Mine is a Realtek and it is working with all other games ...

You plugged it into your speakers. Try plugging it into your computer. I can do the same thing and plug it in on my Klipsch 2.1 and be fine.

Maybe your Klipsch set is different, but the headset jack on my speaker set provides a direct line from my PC. Therefore, it doesn't matter if I plug into it or the sound card.

However, to humor you, I just unplugged my speakers from my sound card while BL2 was running and plugged my headset into the same audio port. It works fine just like I expected it to.

Edit: Typo

Perhaps you should invest in a discrete audio solution from Creative. I hear their newest generation cards are pretty good.

I already own a very good system, but it's running via my graphics card. This is just about my headphones, and it is not an issue with the soundcard. As I said, all other games are working fine!

Your video card's audio-out uses Realtek drivers? oO

If you have your onboard (motherboard) sound activated as well as your video card's sound, that might actually be what your problem is.

1. No, the video card has its own Realtek chip and driver.
2. Nope, as I said, working with all other applications.

Well, as I said before, this function works in Borderlands 2 with at least one configuration. I'm pretty sure it works with more than one.

Therefore, you folks who it doesn't work for must have something unusual about your setups which they didn't catch during testing.

So, if you want Gearbox to patch their game to accomodate your systems, you need to provide them with detailed system information, so they can recreate the issue in their lab.

That or you should modify your systems to work with the game.
