Yeah that would get old quickly, if you don't use the Bee shield the rifle is a real butt kicker. However if you do for some reason the Bee does add amp damage but its nerfed compared to other sniper rifles like the Hawkeye who's critical hits are through the roof.
Hopefully you'll get the Tumtum variant that's the most bad-a$$.
Instead, if you have the Hammerlock's Hunt DLC, do the mission "The Rakk Dahlia Murder" in Scylla's Grove up to the point where Rakkanoth spawns. He has exactly the same drops as Son of Mothrakk, but he's MUCH quicker to farm. Literally 10 seconds from the spawn point.
If he doesn't drop a Skullmasher, alt-f4 and kill him again until he does. Becacuse he doesn't respawn.
Or use the read-only save file trick and store any Skullmashers you get in Claptrap's stash.
