Game version mismatch over Hamachi-LAN.

A friend and I have been playing Borderlands 2 for a while now, today the constant .5-2 seconds of lag just became too much. We decided we'd give Hamachi a try, as it supposedly would remove the aforementioned lag.

We installed Hamachi (and set it up), started our games and set the network option to "LAN" but we couldn't finde each other, so we tried connecting directly by adding the host's (mine) IP to Steams launch options. This worked somewhat, it at least insinuated that our machines were communicating, however we were informed that we were running different versions of the game.

We are, as of this writing, both running version 1.3.0 of the PC edition of the game. I've read that both players must have the same DLC to connect to each other, which we do (or so I'd say).

My friend has the following DLC:
Season Pass
Collector's Edition Pack (the one with the skins and heads)

I have the following:
Season Pass

Is it really the CEP that's preventing us from connecting to each other or is it, as I suspect, something else and if so, what might it be?

So far we've tried:
Validiating Game Cache Files
Alternating hosts (him hosting, me joining and vice versa)

Bl2 has player as host, so if you have lag its due to your isp/distance from friend, hamachi wouldn't help that.

Yes hamachi would be the same as playing over the internet.

We did get it working, I'll try to find the thread that got it working for us.
