Screen Tearing
Is there anyway to stop the bad screen tearing in this game? Generally if I have bad screen tearing I can either cap my fps rate at 60 or just simply enable vsync and it fixes it everytime. However on Borderlands 2 I've tried fps cap to 60 with vsync on, cap to 60 with it off, and every other option with it on and off. Tried unlimited with it on and off as well. It acts as if Vsync really does nothing in this game. With it on or off nothing changes, still bad screen tearing. First time I've ever played a game where vsync didn't stop the screen tearing for me so I'm not sure if it's a common problem, there is a way to fix it, or I just have bad luck. I'm on FX 6300 4.4ghz and GTX 660 ti power edition. Liquid cooled cpu, 16 gigs of corsair vengeance 1600mhz ram, corsair cxm 750 watt psu, etc etc. Pretty descent rig, about 1200 in it so I can run game's fine. I only have a 24 inch 1080p 60hz monitor so 99% of games even at max settings I have to enable vsync to keep my frame rate at from going over 60 and it always plays great. Can't figure out what the deal is on this game

You might run geforce experience and see what it recommends for settings. I'm having no tearing, but I'm on 560Ti SLI, not 660. When I ran GFE, it wanted me to turn my physX to medium. I let it set everything, then turned my physX back up manually in the game settings. I'd also make sure your drivers are updated.

I'm also running a 60Hz monitor (27"). You can also force adaptive vsync on for BL2 in the geforce control panel, which will override anything the game might be doing on its own. Last resort, you might look into a little piece of software called "d3doverrider" - it's questionable now (may or may not work), but it used to be the go-to solution for screen tearing.

I'm on a 660 Ti. But yea thanks for trying to help. I build computers for a living. I realize you're just trying to help and thanks for that. Drivers are always updated. Not just for my gpu but for all my hardware. I have ADHD so I updated constantly. Clean my pc, run sypware, virus scans, all that stuff at least 2-3 times a day. But I mean that's mostly just common sense stuff. I have Geforce experience as well. I've tried to let it set it but that didn't change anything. I play with everything maxed out and that's what it had it at too. Aside from that I find that what Geforce Experience thinks is optimal never really is. I can max out pretty much every game out and get 60 fps plus easily and on several games even non demanding games it will have crazy settings that even a 650 ti could acheive. With my 660 ti power edition I have it highly overvolted and overclocked, it's about as fast as a mild overclocked gtx 670 right now, maybe even faster. I've tried all that basic stuff, adaptive, control panel, in game, I've tried d3doverrider, everything. I more less was just looking for a file extension or some fix that maybe someone knew about that I didn't. It's not big deal though I can't really notice it now after I get out of the first main area. It was just terrible aganist the glaciers. It's actually kinda gone away now, I haven't really noticed it in a while. If it gets bad again or to where I can't stand it I'll just play it on my 360. Just bought it on PC since it was on sale and wanted to get the Krieg dlc. Thanks for the feedback though. Have a nice day. Btw Krieg is badass and alot of fun.

strange vsync isnt working . Have your tried forcing vsync through the nvidia control panel ? or even adaptive vsync? . With dead island (till they fixed it) and the sim 3 i had to do that or suffer terrible screen tear.

Yea I just said I had tried that in my message above when the guy before you mentioned it. Ya might not have noticed it. Thanks for the feedback though, appericiate it. It seems to have stoped now so I think it's good to go.

I got it fixed now. I set my graphics card back to its stock clock speeds. It's the MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition. For some reason I guess the overclock was messing with the game or something idk. It's fast enough to max it out and then some even at stock speeds but I had it running up about like a mild overclocked gtx 670 or even faster. Had all memory core and pwl all overvolted to max, power maxed out, core clocks and memory clocks maxed out as stable as it would go. Card overclockes like a beast with that tripple voltage control on it. But at stock speeds it's running like butter now. Anyway thanks for all the feedback guys. Ya'll have a nice day.
Glad you got it fixed :) I agree, GF Experience doesn't generally know what's best. I let it set things to "optimal" settings, then tweak what I want, unless it's trying to change things radically. Anyway...

I have read before that the 600 series card were having trouble in borderlands because of the power settings in the nvidia control panel. People with OC'd cards had to up their voltage to like 1.5 or 1.6 to get it to work right

My card already had max power and voltage as high as it could go. That was the reason I bought the Power Edition with tripple over voltage. I have all 3 voltage sliders maxed and the power slider maxed. It allows you to overvolt the pwl along with the memory clock along with the core clock. Every other 660 ti card only allows overvoltage on the core clock or not at all. With power maxed and voltage maxed I have a massive overclock. Like I said up to a mildly overclocked gtx 670 or maybe a tad faster. I just made a stock settings profile and saved it. When I play BL2 I just run it with that profile and no more screen tearing. It still has the factory overclock on it. Even out of the box with the factory overclock though my 660ti runs BL2 maxed out no problem well above 60 fps. The overclock I normally use though definitely makes a difference on Metro: Last Light. Maxed out with no SSAA factory settings average fps 44 on benchmark, around 50 in game. With my overclock average fps 52.7. Stays at a constant 60 in game. Glad it didn't have the screen tearing issue since it's such a demanding game, needed all the power I can get. But yea thanks for all the imput once again. Guy's have fun gaming.
i see this post is very old but to fix this issue of screen tareing
click in your borderlands options Vsync to On and save settings , Exit the game

To fix 24fps with Vsync on "For Windows 7" Windows 8 and 10 is slightly diffrant but simular

Right click your desktop
Choose Change resolution
click on advanced settings
Click adapter tab
List all modes
And finally choose the Hz that matches your Computer screen most common 60hz

Hi guys, anyone having screen tearing, I figured out how to fix mine

I could typically see it happening when standing still, and slowly moving the mouse, it was highly visible

I tried a bunch of settings, and what definitely worked for me was running the game in Windowed Fullscreen mode!

I am currently running it with Vsync ON, FPS capped at 60, and pretty much everything in max settings except PhysX which is on low.

I hope this helps!

After PC format (everything has been installed the same as was before) I started to have screen tearing.
In fullscreen or windowed mode all is OK.
In fullscreen windowed mode, before I also had diagonal tear, but that's not the problem. In this mode, I started to have little tearing on upper right side of the diagonal [ \ * ], which is not one from no v-sync. I have v-sync enabled as I had before, but objects tears still. What is funny, when I enable Steam Controller Overlay, that tearing and (surprise!) diagonal tear are gone, but touching left touchpad shows the selection wheel and it does not disappear, what drives me. Any solution?
Frame rates are not capped in game, most settings are low or medium like before format.

EDIT: Funny, but I installed java and flash player and problem with tearing gone xD
