So, players found a glitch proving that you can actually store more (much more) without any trouble. And the game engine had no trouble with it, at all. Therefore any lie about storage size being limited due to technical limitations (and such) is just that - a lie.
And then they patch that glitch. Too bad they didn't VAC ban people using it and also send MenInBlack to each of those players' home to slap them in the face with a wet, used sock. Because I bet that's how it felt.
I'm currently reluctant to play the game, mostly because if I find any nice new loot, I'll have to get rid of something in my bank. I don't feel like doing so... yet.
Wonder how many people feel the same.
Tell me, who really needs infinite storage ? I'm quite sure that nobody uses all the items he can store, even half of them. There are 65 slots available (backpack max : 33 + 8 equipped + bank max : 20 + secret stash : 4).
I mostly use 20 items and weapons on a regular base. Show me only one player who makes a full use of 65 items ! Don't forget that the main purpose of items and weapons is to be used for FIGHTING, not trading or opening a museum. :-)
LOL : "Mommy, naughty-naughty GBX fixed the bug. *whines* I can't have my 200+ not-even-used stuff. *whines*. I can't play anymore. *whines* "
Actually, what's so bad about keeping all the legendaries you find, guys? Tell me how it hurts YOU that OTHERS do it?
I pointed out how Gearbox LIED to players, that's the issue I have.
BTW. I know a lot of people who complain about storage being too small. It's not "just a few people" or "a small fraction". In fact, most of my friends who play BL2 would like to have more space. Especially in the bank, because it's really funny to see how you can drag more with you than store in a huge damn safe.
You're totally missing the point here. Read my post again. I never said there was something bad about keeping legendaries. I said there is no point in complaining/whining about a bugfix. First, it's not like nerfing an item, it's bugfixing which is part of developers' job, right ? Second, everybody still have a total of 65 storage slots. SIXTY-FIVE ! That's more than enough to enjoy the game. That's what i said. That's why i asked to show me one person who uses 65 items on a regular base, for fighting. Who does that ? NO-BO-DY.
I also meant that stating "Game nearly broken", "infuriated", "end of the game as a major force of the genre" is at least overreacting. How can losing infinite storage be game-breaking ? Here is an example of a really game-breaking issue : the delay between PC and Mac updates, which prevents co-op between PC and Mac owners. That's really game-breaking, imho.
Concerning your "BTW". I agree. I wouldn't mind having more storage, like 4 four more slots in the bank and additional slots in the secret stash (four is really not enough). But INFINITE storage (which is subject of the OP), what's the use of it ? Well, i like to keep souvenirs in my bank... but what's the use of having a weapons museum ?
And BTW, sure i want to play the game my way. Exactly like you want it too with your game. Guess what? We can do both. We do our own business like we want, even if it displeases to others. That's part of the gamers freedoms, dude. And we love it, right ? ;-)
Anyway, my apologies if i hurted your feelings when i joked. No offense was meant. :-)
As to whether people really need that much storage... I've gotta say one thing - I personally try to keep the most powerful item (not just weapons, applies to relics/mods/whatever) of each kind, mostly because respecing in this game is insanely easy (which is good, btw). Usually trying out another build, though, requires at least one different kind of a class mod and possibly a relic/shield. Often you also need different weapons (say, pistol builds - there are both skills/mods for those, same goes with smgs (especially on a siren), assault rifles... etc). And honestly, my bank space is mostly taken by mods and relics, not even weapons atm. :-< I don't know if I'll ever use them, but testing out builds proven to be fun (especially switching to melee zer0, man, that's awesome).
That, and sometimes I don't want to have to decide which weapon I want to keep immediately.
I agree it technically was a bug that "needed" fixing (whether it actually needed fixing is debatable, haha), so yeah, you're right about that. I'm just... sad I guess about the whole "but they promised!" thingie.
[cut, agreed or pretty much answered above]
I guess I misunderstood your intent. My fault, sorry.
P.S.- Cuz I always love playing with people with huge backpacks. I am looking at an item to compare it with something else because I have little or no room, and the guy with the Huge Pac (while I am deciding) is picking up everything in the room...INCLUDING THE ITEM I WANTED. So yeah I love people with Huge Pacs running around like children (and maybe they are) going....MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE.
Maybe, but that's why I'm not really advocating larger backpacks. Bank, sure. Backpack - no. As I said twice already, having a backpack larger than a freaking huge safe built into a wall is kind of... funny.
Also people stealing loot randomly is one of the reasons I play alone... I wish we had separate loot for everyone. Trading would make more sense then too.
But all in all...Like in BL1 (I rarely felt out of space). I think more space is needed in the safe.
"UPGRADE THAT MOFO"
Yes. The genre including fallout 3, and aa bunch of other stuff. Generally at the top end of the RPG lists.
Almost no one needs infinite storage, Though there are some veryin interesting examples of what can be done with it in skyrim. But everyone needs more than the tiny amount provided by the game.
Lack of storage was the primary complaint in borderlands 1, and pre release, the devs promised several times that they would provide more.
Many early reviewers of the game thought the bank glitch was not a glitch at all but an intentional feature, and rated the game highly because of it. If the bank glitch was not there the game would likely have opened to poor reviews, and not done nearly as well in the marketplace.
There's about a hundred pages of this argument on gearbox forums. Your opinion is neither new nor particularly supportable, as is proven there.
the thread is titled " bank glitch fixed "in the general discussion no spoilers section.
