How to load game in progress?
Purchased B2 on sale today. Started a game. Got to the robot's house, picked up my first gun, but then had to quit. How do I pick up where I stopped? I see no "continue" or "Load Game" on the main menu.

Are you sure you saved and didn't just force-quit the game?

Cause there should be a big-fat menu-entry at the top for that.

I didn't save. Does it save on quit? I'll try it again because maybe it did end ungracefully. Also, is there a manual save function?

There is an autosave function every time you see that blue holographic vault symbol in the corner of the screen. Autosaves usually occur when you trigger a respawn station or complete a quest, for example, so you don't need to "manually" save the game in Borderlands 2. Keep in mind though that you can only spawn at a fast travel station or doors between areas when you *load* in.

If you don't see Continue in the main menu with your character posing in the center of the screen, it means you either haven't selected a character or it did not save your character in the first place.
It's possible that it did not save because you didn't touch the first fast travel station yet. It's in the second room of Claptrap's place, which he has to open the door to first. Otherwise, make sure that your saves aren't set to read-only in the "My Games" folder.

This helps, thanks! I see its like a waypoint save system. I get the "continue" option now.

Another noob question: I tried different resolutions, such as 1440x1080 and the game is still just a box on my screen. Even though I have fullscreen enabled. If that's the way it is then I'll just have to get used to it.

No it's not normal for your screen to not be fullscreen. Make sure your graphics card is updated , direct X updated , make sure your PC is using your real graphics card and not an onboard card , try going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Borderlands 2\Binaries\Redist and making sure you have these installed.

You can also try DXVK which is a more modern system for playing old direct X games like this.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3127434981 I would say try the "compatability Improvements" and "DXVK" section if you feel comfortable following directions on how to tweak some settings. If not just make sure all your graphics stuff is updated like I said at the start.

RTX 3060 12gb. All drivers are updated. I play other games like, NMS and Starfield without this issue:

I'll check that video and see if my issue is addressed.

Edit: Changed setting to Fullscreen Windowed

All is well!
