I think this game has some serious issues
Greetings. I'm a new Borderlands player. I purchased this game 1 week ago and finished TVHM mode with my 50 Gunzerker yesterday. My first impressions were VERY high but after killing The Warrior for the 2nd time now, that feeling diminished. A few reasons:

- There seems to be no real endgame for the game. You either keep starting over and over for harder modes or stay in that level and begin grinding for the best possible gear and that's it. This game is meant to be like that, i know. But i think the implementation could have been better than this. More raids, more different co-op modes?

- You can't 'show off' in this game. There's no place to, first. Second; everybody has those items already. There seems to be some serious item duping going on in this game as well, judging by the videos i watched on Youtube, which makes this effort futile too.

- You can't redo Fink's Slaughterhouse once you complete it. Also same with the Hyperion counterpart. This game is about slaughtering stuff, right? Why is it like this? Also why was there a round limitation in the first place? Shouldn't it be like as many round as possible till you keep going on? Even CoD was better in this regard. I don't get it.

- The Warrior had many unique abilities for the battle but none of them mattered, once you decided to stay in a specific place (left side hyperion resupply place). Just shoot from there and you kill the boss with full shield/full hp. Also was same with BUNKER (stay below the roof and shoot from there). Aren't these design flaws? Shouldn't these boss encounters have been 'forced' to be more epic than this?

- 2 Rabid Stalkers were harder to deal with, compared to Handsome Jack. Maybe it should have been set like Jack being a mob, and stalkers being the last boss instead? Handsome Rabid Stalkers... Anyone?

- Does the currency even matter? Your deaths cause a percentage based lose. I don't know about ammunition since i was a Gunzerker, i didn't care about that. The eridium bars don't matter too, once you get all the weapon upgrades. And it's extremely easy to get eridium in this game anyway. Just go back to normal, kill the Warrior in 5 seconds and get 10+ Eridium bars. This felt like those animals in Farcry 3. Once you are done with your wallet upgrades, you don't need them anymore.

I can add more to this but these were the basics which is why i lost interest to the game. I bought it for 15$. It's a beautiful game but it felt to me like it could have been much better than this. I mean, this game is out for like 1.5 years right? Why didn't they do anything to fix some of these? What if i want to stay in TVHM and do Fink's Slaughterhouse again and again (which i liked the place a lot btw).

Well I am 176 hours into it and still have several missions to do, i am at level 33 so still have a lot of levels to do, have not upgraded everythign with eridium so still have a lot of farming to do, still have many challenges to finish off and it's been a blast.

I like the no endgame cause you can either quit or keep going whichever you prefer.

For me, don't care about showing off cause I hate MP games, so only play Coop with my son or alone.

Don't like the Slaughter rounds as those get repetitive and dull.

Money only matters as far as getting challenge for collecting money as far as I am concerned.

Love collecting eridium as I stated earlier have many more ammo upgrades and have only 36 spots in my backpack. Wanna max out everything, if possible.

1. You answered you're own question in your rant. You beat the game. Move on to UVHM or DLC if you want more. (it's worth it)
2. I don't agree with any of your complaints about not being able to show off.
3 Fink's wasn't designed to be what you wanted. Sorry. There is DLC available that is repeatable.
4. Warrior and Bunker have their glitches sure, like any game boss. Try voracidious.
5. Everything Rabid was tough. You're right.
6. Currency is what it is. Yes, once you upgrade everything, eridium is useless... unless you play the DLCs.
7. Sounds like you've played the game through its original designed playthough. Congrats. There's more content availble if you want. Otherwise, enjoy another game.

Now starts UVHM, the hardcore difficulty of the game. Buy the season pass, the 4 DLC's offer a lot of raid bosses, they are the real "endgame" of Borderlands 2.

I'm guessing you never tried doing the bosses, Terramorphous from the original game aswell as others from DLC.

Hey,

I've been playing Borderlands 2 since release, and I've stopped playing after the latest DLC.

Every single issue brought by OP is either a valid complaint or very close to one. Some players should really put their fanboys back in, it's not appropriate to walk with these things dangling out like that in front of other people.

Thus said, if you enjoyed the overall setting and gameplay and you feel like it should be fun once it's a tad more challenging, I think you should:

1) grab the first UVHM cap raise. yes, charging for cap increase is a rip off, but the first UVHM level range (50-61) is the most entertaining thing BL2 has to offer.

2) find good folks to play with, you shouldn't have a major problem with that, but you should be prepared to kick a douchebag or two in process. It's really a day and night type of difference when you have a crew of jolly dudes and/or dudettes to play it with, look for ones that are not taking themselves too seriously

3) you should definitely start with a different character. This game has some serious balance issues. You can play gunzerker till the very endgame and push through entire content without even trying or paying slightest attention to where you smack these skill points.

Axton is the most balanced character in the game, while zero has the most depth to it. DLC characters suffer from poor design and even worse execution, leaving you out with very little freedom to how you play them. Maya is very entertaining in generic gameplay, but there's a lengthy list of encounters where she falls completely flat, forcing you into using some boring cookie cutter to get through.

There's an arena mission and a circle of slaugher featuring a sixth round, both can be repeated as many times as you wish. They come with DLC 2 and DLC 4 respectively. I've also patched up a simplistc script that resets 5th rounds of Fink and Hyperion arenas in the save files it's provided with.

It's nothing but a lack of foresight to not include it with the first release and blatant laziness that it was not patched in afterwards, even despite the numerous occasions it's been brought up by community.

Why do people always use FANBOY crap? Look, the OP made points as to why he didn't like it. Well I made points as to why I liked it. Point is people like different things. He is not right, nor am I. It's an opinion.

Yet, god forbid you disagree with someone and you are a fanboy.

No anger included here, that'll be an extra $10

I will enjoy another game, many games that aren't greedy sluts. I hope this game dies for their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ business practices.

I wasn't referring to your reply by any means, I'm sorry if it turned out this way.
I should've made it clear that it's about the one that follows.

Yet you feel the need to tell people here, odd. When I no longer have an interest in a game and move one to another, I don't have the time nor the desire to spend time in the forum of the one I left.

Go have some green eggs and ham and relax, it will be OK (I just say that, it may not be OK).

It's not totally correct about UVH and specially OP8. Accuracy of mobs grows since TVH and Double Torgue shotgun snipers with health regeneration (which is completely idiotic imo -> removes main idea of AoE weapons) feels really different. OP8 lowers your damage to mobs health rating for 2-4 times. And cripples elemental effects horibly. And ruins builds variety :)
Whell, UVH1 can feel really good. Think GOTY which has season pass and mechro is best way to taste BL2 imho.

Build choise was most in TvH btw. UVH1 introduced 2 full trees at a time, which felt kinda good cause you could "make dream come true" with two teilled at a time but let you have too much if everything... and UVH2 concluded it with spare points for good random stuff but it's all spoiled by strict "face control" to experimentation at OP :(
Really only thing that spoiling BL2 for me are mobs regeneration and OP8 execution with penalties for damage output and elemental chances levelwise, cause it redused divercity of playstyles...
Great Aether! Dec 5, 2013 @ 8:05pm
I highly respect your thorough review of what you see this game to be. Sometimes it does make the player feel like a mindless zombie movie from one fetch quest to another. Socially playing it adds more excitement to the game to the challenge and loot factors. Man I feel like its just one of those things where if an indie developer could take the concept from this game and make it his own, it would be a beautiful creature.
