Enlighten me about the Infinity Pistol
I recently found an OP3 Rapid Infinity Pistol. It's fun to use, especially while farming torgue tokens or working my way to the dragons, however, the damage doesn't seem to be all that better than an DPUH.

I know I must be missing something here because it seems that a lot of people want one. Any advice?

I think most people want it for unlimited ammo. I think it's pretty "meh" overall.

I don't care, I love it!

With Gaige using Anarchy, Close enough, a Bee and an Infinity I can stand a bit off to side of door, by a corner, or pick and object to bounce shots off of and hold the trigger. Love it, hear things like ohhh, ahhhh, bury me with my loot and not even see them, just the numbers floating> Until I take a hit, then it's " I'm running running running, I'm running over here, run run run a-way" LOL I only WISH I had the Rapid one, great fire rate means more damage as it is more shots Oh yes, and a Sheriff's Badge too.

Fixed? I never saw a Vengeful Infinity, all I have is Righteous and Resolute (resolute is corrosive but lower damage) . I did see a Rapid, wow, fire rate over 10. I must look in to this Vengeful thing....

One way the Infinity shines is in relation to several of the players is when you have constant fire.
The non-elemental version does the most damage but as an example the electric version while being used on a BA bandit will make them sing their lip song and stop attacking while you are shooting. You can stop many characters in BL2 in their tracks with it while you whittle them down with constant gunfire.

You should see it with my level 10 Wreck skill, which gives me +100% fire rate while a creature is phaselocked. BZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

The only reason the Infinity is so popular is because when this game first came out there was a glitch in the drop rate making it extremely easy to get. So most everyone altered thier playstyles to adapt to using the crappy handgun. And since every video and guide from those days incorporated the stupid thing, everyone else felt they needed that piece of garbage just to play the game. Just silly.

There is actually very little the Infinity is actually good for. The only reason I personally would ever use one is if I'm running through lower level stuff where damage is irrelevant. Otherwise I'd just use an actual useful handgun like the Unkempt Harold, Rubi, Stinger, Lady Fist, Law, Little Evie, Pocket Rocket, Teapot, Fibber, or Unforgiven.

NewTroll, not everyone has the same views as you. There are actually some pretty nice builds out there that can utilize the infinity quite well. While you may not personally like it, plently of people do.

When I finally got the Infinity, I only used it against enemies that either A. were weak enough to not care about, or B. Orc Warlords to wittle them down with a weapon that doesn't burn through ammo.
I mean, I glitched them against walls first, but really, it's a good weapon to use against Orc Warlords, because it doesn't cost ammo.
The only other option is to glitch them against a wall, and then run. :)
I got my first and only infinity, from a chest on the Hyperion convoy getting the second compass piece, in TVHM on Gaige.
My new Zero would probably also benefit from one, for enemies that get too close to sniper reliably, and I'm running low on shotgun ammo.

Or maybe I'm just weird.
Also, if there was a glitch in the drop rate, how come I never got it until recently?

Agree. I use infinities for quite sometime now, even with my siren.

It's good on things that can take a bazillion shots, thus leaving you with no ammo (Saturn 3.0, other stuff on Digistruct Peak), and for not worrying about constantly buying ammo as well. Since the clip is always full, you're always regenning health with that Mechromancer ability too!

It's not the most powerful gun by any means, but it can be fun to use for varying reasons. Not every gun has to be the absolute best in its class to be used.

this gun is actually useless for gunzerkers, money shot requires your last shot to do bonus damage but if it has infinite ammo you will never get the last shot.

Technically, it should count as the first and last shot at the same time, since it only has 1 ammo.
I don't know. My gunzerker never went anywhere because he didn't seem to ever be able to hit anything.

I just killed saturn with 5 minutes of straight out uvhm infinity fire because of those damn heat seeking surveyor things. Really, even in deception those overpowered buggers can get you.

And I want an unforgiven ._.

Actually, it's not useless for gunzerkers. While yes, it doesnt get the all-powerful money shot, it does work with keep firing. Basically, you get a hail of bullets.
