How to obtain a fire weapon

Hello BL2 fans,

Question, I have a lvl 15 zerker and on quest "A train to catch"; it requires a fire weapon to make the varkids screech in order to wake up Roland's spy, but I do not have a fire weapon nor did I save one. I tried to go to the Sanctuary Vendor, but there is no fire weapons available for sale. Is there any suggestions on on getting one?

If you dont have a fire weapon you can always activate those fire poles (i dont know what to call them) by the varkids pods. Be careful though every time I do it, I go down.

I had not heard that and never thought of shooting it, but I just tried 5 times and got ammo each time, RNG is not my friend.

I would say go hit Flynt again and get a Tender Box, fairly low damage and good fire chance.

Same here. Maybe it's cuz I already finished that mission? I'll have to check it out when I get there on my commando.

It's always ammo unless you're on that Mission in which case it's always a Tinderbox the first time.

Edit: I always just use the poles. So much more reliable and quicker too.

Awesome. I have always been searching the vendors for a fire weapon when I hit that quest. You learn something new every day.

I just use the fire melons. Just get a group of them to follow you around and lead them past the plant and shoot it as they go past, Works every time.

Moxxi gives you one if you keep tipping her. 1st she'll give a corrosive weapon, 2nd time and onwards she gives a fire. Both SMGs and they aren't too bad, worth getting.

The simplest way to set varkids on fire in this mission is to:

Find one of those mushroom looking structures.
Have the varkids follow you there.
Once they have all gathered around... press teh button and make teh "mushroom thing" spew fire. All your varkids should suddenly ignite.

The gold chest in Sanctuary always drops good fire weapons for me .Loot chests in the dust as well.If you use the fire spouts you need an immunity to fire shield ..or you get flame grilled !

I just shoot the fire plant things after the varkids come out (the one to the left of the start of the area is where I go first). It has enough range that it should set several on fire. Just let them spawn and then shoot the plant. It'll still proc fire for a few seconds after you've destroyed it BTW
