Best Game Ever?
Is Borderlands 2 One of the best games ever? I think it is,
And I want to know if anyone else does.

No, but I think it's very good, ... hate the engine, though.

Best Game Ever? How old are you?

Borderlands 2 was a lot of fun, but it is by far not one of the best games.

He only has like 15 games, he must be 12 yrs old

Maybe they simply only have 15 games on their Steam and have loads of boxed games? Maybe they're an adult with a busy life, and doesn't game all that often? Maybe they only have 15 games, because there's barely any games that take their interest? Not everything is so black 'n white. Also, even if he is that arbitrary "12 years old", who cares? A 12-year-old is allowed an opinion.

But someone that says that Boderlands 2 is one of the best games can't be old.

There have been so many great games, like Half Life (1) or Counter Strike. CS is still one of the most played games and Half Life was like a bomb back then. Then we have World of Warcraft, I never played it myself but many people are addicted to that game. And then there are games like Super Mario 64 that were also really great back then and just mindblowing.

And don't forget The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. You could ride horses in that game, when I saw that in a video I was so hyped for that game.

My is that it is hard for me to believe that someone played those games and then says that Borderlands 2 is the best game.

I'm 37, played all the games you mentioned, and not a single one of them would be on my Top 10 list. But Borderlands 2 more than likely would.

My #1 is and propably always will be Master of Magic. From there I would have to really think about it but it would probably be filled with Sir-tech, Black Isle, Bethesda, Bioware, and Blizzard games. And Brigadine on PSX. Probably Master of Orion 2. Maybe Shining in the Darkness on Genesis. Can't think of a single Nintendo game though.

Edit: damn it, forgot Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2! Might just have to sit down and really come up with my favorite games list.

Huh, I guess it comes down to personal opinions then. I would never even play one of those games you named.

I have been playing games since 1978, owned probably over 3,000 games on all systems, amiga, pc, etc.
I would put BL2 in my top 5 of all time! Once you take off the thick black border outlines in the ini file the game looks incredible, plays fantastic, great length and Handsome Jack is one of the best villlians ever.

Now that i think about it Franco, maybe the borders on the graphics is why the game is called 'Borderlands'.

That might be a reason why, along with the bit about how Pandora is out in the borderlands.

Possibly among the top 100 best games ever, maybe in the 70's or 80's for me out of all games :P it is a great game, but these are all just personal opinions right.

To end all confusion, I am actually 16, and yes I have more boxed games than steam games.

I'm about your age and played games since the original Atari on consoles as well as all the way back to the Commodore VIC 20 computers. I ahve played hundreds of games. Hundreds.

It is hard for me to say BL2 is a top 10 game, but I think I have to put it in my top 20 or so. It simply has just provided me with a massive amount of gameplay and replayability.

Like I said in my first reply to the thread. You think you SHOULD say it isn't one of the best games ever, but it's hard to argue against it if you consider the amount of time and content you put into the game.

There are tons of games that do all aspects of it better probably. There are tons of open world games that do that better. Probably thousands with better stories. Certainly better FPS game mechanics. It just has a great mix of many genres and provides a huge amount of fun and time wasting so I have to agree it falls in the top 20 for me. The variety is what puts it there for me. I ahve plenty of games I have played this much, but don't consider them as ranked this high all time. Terraria, or Binding of Isaac for example for more modern gmaes. Couple of my favorite games, but not worthy of such a high rankign imo. LEgend of Zelda 1 was always my favorite game ever and might still be, but I don't consider it to be the greatest game ever. I like it better than OoT, and I like A Link to the Past better than OoT as well. Helll...Super Mario 3 means more to me than OoT does. So does a game called Crystalis, which isn't that popular at all, but a great Zelda-ish game from the NES days. Wizrds and Warriors was awesome too. Metroid, Suepr MEtroid, Mario RPG, etc.

Most of the old games have way more nostalgia involved than they do great anyhting. They were great fun as a kid and still great games in their own right, but technically and overall most of them don't compare that favorably. They ahve their charms, but seriously, most of that charm and nostalgia gives them a big boost in personal opinions and where we were at those points in our lives. Most of the older games I absolutely love, I love because at the time they did things that nobody else had ever done. They made me a fan of a great series. Stuff like how everyone ahs their own personal favorite Final Fantasy game. Usually their first one and that typically falls into the rang eanywhere between FF6 and FFX. I've played al thsoe and my personal favortie is XII!

In reality it is imposible for me to make a list of my 20 favorite, or 20 best gmaes I ever played. I span way too many consoles and computers to narrow it down to that. NEW and PS2 eras alone probably would make it tough to get past them to now. IF you see top 100 lists usually theya re always what people think they SHOULD say are the best. Just games that everyone says are the best like Zelda and Super MArio Bro.s 1, although more people give SMB 3 more credit than they used to and not jsut giving SMB a top vote because it was one of the first platformers.

I'm 50, and I've played almost everything electronic since the mid-70s. Loved CSS, but for the company on the servers, not necessarily the game. Had fun playing OoT with my kids, but we all three hated Navi with a passion. Those are honorable mention games, not top 10. World of Warcraft...I don't get it. Maybe because I have a life. BUT Borderlands... over 1400 hours on the first one and still playing it, 3000 hours on the second one and still playing it........well, it obviously has some quality to it that makes it infinitely playable, thus qualifying for a top XX spot in my list. Only other games I've ever come close to playing as much are: Centipede, Ken Griffey Baseball, and GOLDENEYE (which, as we all know, is the top game of all time.:D)

It's not the best, but it is really a great game!

Yes. Another huge factor might also be the competition of today. Back in the day, I fell in love with Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant among the dozens of other games that were truly great and I really enjoyed, so I knew for a fact it was one of my favorite games of all time. Today though I play the heck out of Borderlands 2 but look around at all my other choices and very little really jumps out at me. I love Skyrim and it too would be high on my list (probably even higher than Borderlands 2) but other than those two games not a single other newer title would make my list. Sure I do enjoy some games like PayDay 1/2 and Path of Exile and X-Com: EU and Saints Row 3/4 and the Bioshock games but it's just not the same as back in the day when there were so many great games I hated having to choose one over another.

Course it could be I'm just getting old. :Killmaster:
