What does "Override Cooldown Rate" Mean?
So I've been playing for a while now - have multiple characters at Overpower 8.

I understand the relics that say cooldown rate + XX %. But I've always avoided the override cooldown relics because I never understood what it meant.

I've been farming gear at the Leviathon's Lair pirate's treasure room and I'm seeing override cooldown relics again.

Once you've completed the pirate's treasure DLC you can't do the continuous treasure room glitch without having to kill the Leviathon.

But you can re-kill the Leviathon and raid the treasure room over and over (which isn't that hard). herald for Leviathon, slag/fire combo for the worms (bee sheild as always and fire bee grenades come in handy for the worms).

Only thing I can figure is that if you have something else, like a class mod, that increases cooldown rate that it would stack over the override cooldown rate?

In other words the override would replace the standard cooldown rate for a special ability, and any additional cooldown rate increases would stack on top of that?

Only thing I can think of.

Did a search on the forums but not much came back.

It only affects the Melee Override Skills that have cooldown timers.
Example: Salvador's Fistful of Hurt.

I'd make a guess that it would not stack with general cooldown (mods), because I believe those affect your main "talent" (Axton's turret). (edit) if the specific override attribute shows up on other things, it might stack, of course).

The melee override skills are Maya's Scorn, Salvador's Fistful of Hurt and Krieg's Hellfire Halitosis. Zer0's Execute and Gaige's With Claws are unaffected by these relics since they don't have cooldowns.

FWIW, if you complete the first mission, but don't turn it in, you can get back in without any fighting. Get eaten again and Roscoe won't be there, and the Leviathan will just fall over dead the moment he spawns. No sand worms. Then you can use the glitch like usual.

The same thing may happen if you have completed the second mission and not turned it in. I haven't tried that.

Thanks Waste i did do that originally when I did first playthrough on pirates treasure. I saw the youtube video and gave it a shot and worked great. But from what I've seen you can only do the pirates treasure playthrough twice per character.

After the second playthrough of the pirates missions that first quest doesn't pop back up in Oasis.

After that point the only way to get into the treasure room is to basically get eaten by the leviathon, save within the stomach, kill leviathon, glitch to treasure room, quit/save, spawn back within the leviathon and repeat. twin herald works wonders and takes him out fast though.

You can do continiuous treasure room runs every 3-5 minutes if you do it right even with OP 8.

Best way to gear up but it does get monotonous. It's still fun to find those turqouise weapons tho lolz.

There's another great glitch with pyro pete the invincible. You basicaly use standard grenades to grenade jump up opposite the spawn button. then you can jump up again and hide in the shack near where he spawns. He eventually jumps up and walks onto the roof of the shack but he will stay up there unable to attack you. You just have to watch for his area attack but it's easy kill over and over and the gear is great. It just sometimes takes 10-15 minutes with single player and if you get hit with area attack you have to go back and wash off with the water.

Yeah, you can only do the mission twice (in each mode). The trick is that if you complete the mission, but don't turn it in, then if you go back and get eaten again, you don't have to do any fighting. If you've turned in the second mission, you can get eaten again, but then you'll have to fight, like usual.

"save within the stomach" sort of implies that you're exiting to the menu at that point to save the character. FWIW, you don't have to do that.

FWIW, I stopped doing treasure room runs after I got the Mercenary Day DLC. Runs probably take a similar amount of time, without having to mess with (or exploit) a glitch, and the chest after the boss is the equivalent of 8+ regular red chests, and it always has some of everything (2 launchers, 8 class mods, 6 shields, 4 relics, 4 grenade mods and an assortment of guns). It's also nice just having one giant chest to open, instead of having to run around and open a bunch of regular chests.

OMG there's so much DLC now! I'll have to check out that Mercenary Day DLC.

New content makes the game new again sort of! I appreciate your info.

Is there a way to solo the dragon raid bosses?

Also, have you found any benefit to these SMG's that can deal slag plus electricity damage?

I've got the seeker torgue rifle which is awesome at long distances but crummy for close up combat. I imagine the slag/elec combo would be great for pyro pete with his electricity vulnerability.

A melee override skill is a skill that is activated via melee and has a cooldown, and while it is on cooldown you perform standard melee attacks. An example of a melee override skill is Gunzerker's "Fistful of Hurt", where you will perform an uppercut, and then perform regular melee attacks until it has recharged at which point you will do another uppercut. A melee override cooldown relic would mean that you initiate the uppercut more often. Some others are Scorn for the Siren and Hellfire Halitosis for Krieg.

Note: It DOES NOT do anything outside of this, meaning it does not have any effect on any of the other things in BL2 that require cooldowns.

Sure, but it's probably much easier with (or may even require) certain characters, and the right gear. I honestly can't say much beyond that. I haven't gotten around to finishing the Tina DLC in UVHM (and in the other modes, I'm always over-leveled by the time I finish that DLC).

I assume you mean the Florentine (the Chullain also deals slag and shock damage, but it also slags you while you're holding it).

I haven't used the Florentine that much, but a lot of people love it. In UVHM, slag is pretty much required, so I'm sure that being able to slag an enemy and hit them with shock damage at the same time can be very handy (especially if it's a shielded enemy).

FWIW, I haven't tried the Seeker. According to the Wiki, it can't score critical hits. Combine that with the really slow fire rate (compared to regular Torgue AR's, or the Ogre), and it just doesn't sound that interesting. It probably has its uses, but the lack of critical hits is practically a deal-breaker for me.

Salvador with groggle nozzle off hand and double penatrating unkept harold in the right hand. Use monk class mod to get money shot 11/5, the rough rider shield and you can solo the raid bosses no problem... except gee. He still is a problem
