But if you know all the shíts that were on the weapon, just use GIBBED
You mentioned a client update. Did you mean the Steam update? I'm not aware of any recent BL2 updates. A Steam update shouldn't have any effect on BL2 saves, unless it somehow caused some kind of problem with the Steam cloud and your current save ended up getting replaced by an older one. Is everything else on that character (level, other gear, mission status, etc.) the same? If the only thing that's changed is that the Morningstar is missing, then it's probably not a problem with the save file.
It's probably not this, but you could check your inventory and make sure that you didn't change the sort order. Maybe the gun is there and you just didn't see it, because the inventory was sorted differently.
If the gun really is gone and you have a backup of your save file from before you lost the gun, you could temporarily replace the save file with the backup, put the Morningstar in the Stash, then switch back to your current save file and get the gun from the Stash.
I don't know of any glitches that would have removed that specific gun from your inventory. One obvious possibility is that you just accidentally dropped/sold it. Another possibility is that your inventory was full and you held the key too long to pick up another gun, while holding the Morningstar, and the game swapped them, leaving the Morningstar on the ground.
whenever that upside-down "V" flashes onscreen to auto-save, I call that a savepoint. but as I said in my post above, the session I was in caused me to lose my weapon (which I since got back for my Siren character) when the host didn't get to an auto-save.
I don't recall ever hearing about random things just disappearing from a character ("illegal" items, yes, but not normal gear). That doesn't mean that it didn't happen. It just doesn't ring any bells, and I have no idea what might cause it.
FWIW, having stuff fall through the ground in Sanctuary seems to be a PhysX issue. I've always had PhysX set low (using an ATI card) and have dropped _many_ dozens of things on the ground in Sanctuary (in and out of Pierce Station) and, AFAIK, I've never had anything fall through the ground. IAC, that wouldn't matter unless you had dropped the Morningstar for some reason.
As for a replacement, you could try the In-Game Trading sub-forum. You might want to mention the level. :-) And if you're looking for a specific element, like another corrosive, mention that too (the Morningstar can have any element, or no element).
There was one time where Slow Hands were being deleted from characters, but other than that I haven't experienced any items going missing.
Yup, if set to high it even bogs down systems running SLI.
Yeah, but that wasn't random items, or a random problem. It was a glitch during the "Loot Hunt", when they temporarily had BA Rex drop the Cobra sniper. He normally has a chance to drop the Slow Hand, and, somehow, adding the Cobra to his drops caused Slow Hands to be removed from a character's inventory (although don't ask me how). The plus side was that, to try to make up for that, they temporarily greatly increased the chance for the Slow Hand to drop, and I picked up a bunch of them. Of course I haven't actually used any of them. :-)
