Why is the Ogre so difficult to farm?

Seriously, behind the Cobra I would say the Ogre is the hardest gun to obtain. I can't even beat the 3rd round of Magic Slaughter let alone get to the BADASS round then survive it and fight the boss...then wait for him to level up to the Lord of Orcs and miraculously kill him; pray for the small chance he'll drop the Ogre. Then go through all of the BADASS round again just for another chance. Most farmable bosses are straightforward and you can just save and quit to keep farming. Anyone have suggestions?

I assume you meant King of Orcs, not Lord, but, either way, you don't have to let him level up at all. You can kill Slog the moment he steps out of the door and he can still drop the Ogre. I've had several drop like that while farming the BA mission for the Magic Missile. And his drop rate seems to be pretty good (much better than most bosses).

Of course you still have to make it through the regular missions to get to the BA mission, and then make it through the first BA mission rounds before Slog shows up. But, if you can get that far, you don't have to wait for Slog to level up to King.
