Of all existing DLC, ignoring the useless skins and heads, only 1 of them released anywhere near when the GotY edition did, and that is the second level cap DLC... I believe it came a few weeks earlier. Depending on how this stuff works, it might not have been possible to add UVH Pack 2 into the GotY without delaying them both
All the Headhunters came *after* the Game of the Year edition was released, so the issue is more that they didn't add those into it later, and if it is actually possible for them to do so.
The Headhunter packs are of questionable value, since their main purpose is to, well, hunt for a themede head for each of the characters. The heads and skins are better off not included. If they were included, they would drive up the price on the GotY with stuff that a good chunk of people could not care less about.
All these heads and skins should be earnable in the game, not extra $ content.
I'm just glad I got the great deal with NewEgg. I've been tracking this title on Steam and it seems to never budge from GOTY for $40. Which is way too much considering all the missing content and age. If you want a good laugh, look at the total price of all the DLC. It far exceeds the price of the game itself. How is this acceptable?
GOTY was $7.99 on Steam just a month ago during the 2K 10th anniversary sale, which is two bucks better than the current newegg deal. :p And who gives a crap about useless skins anyway?
As for the DLC not included in GOTY, wait for the Steam Summer Sale where it'll probably be 67% off again.
I guess I should have said I've been tracking it for one week, not awhile :P
And yes I do care about all the useless skins. It's the principle of how it is handled. I have been playing numerous titles for years where skins and such are unlockable rewards, not pay-walled. Seems like the arrival of the PS3/XBOX360 era is where it all went downhill with DLC nonsense.
I'd really like to know why there isn't a PC Handsome Collection.
Pfft, yeah, a week is nothing. I've had games on my wishlist for years, waiting for a great deal.
Anyway, the vast majority of skins in Borderlands 2 ARE free or unlockable. Only a handful are from paid DLC. It's not a big deal.
Bottom line - It's a shady practice and gaming titles are getting even worse when to comes to offering a fraction of a final product.
I got BL1 GOTY edition for $20 and I got EVERYTHING the game has. Again it's a big deal, because it will continue to get worse with time.
Keep in mind I'm looking for all of our best interests. I want you get a full product in a fair manner as well.
As for the Handsome Collection, PC technically already has the it because it can support 60 FPS and higher. The only reason that $60 price is enticing is because they bundled BL2 with TPS so get higher sales on TPS. I would much rather get BL2 GOTY at a discounted price of $8 which happens more often than you think.
The reason they made headhunter packs is because the older gen consoles didn't have the memory to support a 5th campaign DLC so you can blame them for that.
Looks like I will likely never get The Pre-Sequel unless the entire game ends up under $10. What's the DLC status on that one? They still milking it? Apparently they are still milking #2 with these Headhunter packs. It's been a long time since I've been tracking this title though.
I remember my first PS3 had a 37GB drive. BL1 took up almost half of that lol. I always found that strange as BL is not exactly out to win graphics awards. Not complaining about that though. The gameplay itself is what matters to me, and I like the comic book feel.
Real question though. Instead of working on Headhunters packs, maybe the real devs of Borderlands 1/2 could have been invested in making the Pre-Sequel? From all I've read the handing off to Gearbox AUS what an overall bad and shady move. Then again I heard that the BL2 DLC was not even developed by Gearbox at all? WTF?
I have Fallout NV GOTY edition, and Fallout 3 GOTY edition. No content withheld from those that I'm aware of. Shame on Gearbox for withholding all that content.
The Headhunter Packs were good purchases on sale cause they give a nice hour or two of gameplay. I'm also happy that one of them actually had a raid boss which can't be said for TPS sadly. They would have replaced those HH packs with a campaign DLC if the consoles could have handle it.
As for TPS, they said that the Claptrap DLC was the last to be added onto the game which is extremely disappointing since that's the only campaign DLC in the game. And with 2K Aus going out of business I highly doubt they will add anything else to the game.
I did do Pirate's Booty and I got bored with the game at that point. Not near as good as the first games expansions.
That's really ****** up of Gearbox to hand off the series to 2K AUS. Then they mostly fail to deliver. So then 2K justs lets the AUS branch sink? That's just terrible. What a treacherous industry. And in the meantime, Randy P is stealth-bragging on Twitter about his vacation to wherever :(
Thanks for the useful info LakerNinja :)
I just remember older games like some Mortal Kombat titles. You beat the game with a kombatant, and you unlock their alternate costume. You do something else, and unlock another costume for them. That is fun and satisfying. Simply paying for another costume would not be satisfying to me at all. In Bloodrayne 2, when you beat the game you unlock about 10 different costumes at once. Nice little rewards for your investment. Now you get digital trophies/achievements that randomly lag your game for a little bit upon activating :P
Sorry, but I can't accept how deceptive the gaming industry has become.
