Who said he wasn't living on Pandora now? He has a shop setup in BL1 and BL2. This quote is literally at the beginning of the game. "The fate of pandora lies in the balance" was the Warrior being released, which the Vault Hunters dealt with.
Of course they happened. You played the game, you saw them happen. He didn't just make up the story on the spot. Scarlett DLC shows how the Vault Hunter's exploits on the world of Pandora are so old and well known that even an orphan could try to retell it.
The New-U Stations aren't canon. I get what you're trying to say, but none of them reference New-U stations anywhere in their story, so it can still be considered non-canon. Why would they include a vault hunter dying over and over again? Doesn't matter if Marcus is telling the story because Athena tells the story of how Jack rose to power, and she was tied to a stake ready to be executed. Unlike Marcus who's just telling stories to children. These two people tell the same story, and neither version tells of a time the vault hunters die and get resurrected.
I don't see Marcus thanking you randomly later for saving his pictures of Moxxi's Bazongas. :P
But yeah, side missions in games tend to always be non-canon bonus missions.
I'm sure there's a few games where that's not the case, bit it certainly seems the way in Borderlands 2.
Especially the kill yourself mission from Jack. :P
He sure doesn't mention it if you do it before the final battle. :) Seems like something Handsom Jack would mention. "Hey, remember that time I got you to kill yourself? That was great."
But yeah, I've never seen any reason to doubt the devs of this game about their canon.
After all, the Word of God is immutable.* :)
Thank you, TV tropes.
*Except for Retcons, but those get confusing to figure out
Okay then why don't we go through ane ntire playthrough fo the game in normal mode, without SIDE QUESTS? THAT WOULD BE FUN HUH?
And it wouldn't fit, like for example if we didn't get those 3 ECHOS Lilith's identity would had been exposed! How about the quest where you kill Nisha? Didn't Burch say she is canonically dead? my point.
And no, the side quest for Lilith's identity doesn't count, because you can go through the entire game without assassinating the assassins and nolthing ever happens differently.
The only side quest that has a change in the game, is when you collect poem ideas for Scooter, and he tells his love to that one lady, and then she goes inside and blows her own brains out.
That's the only one I know.
Don't ignore my examples, and create new ones to atack me with. That's extremely lazy, and is immediately countered by the fact you ignored my examples.
And who the hell is Nisha?
Maybe someone in the Pre-Sequel.
Anyhow, feel free for other people to post examples of side quests that have important things to do with the main questline.
If someone can find me one sidequest that completely breaks things, or at least is mentioned if you do it or don't do it, in the main quest line, let me know.
I don't think anyone ever has though, since I'm pretty sure I asked that before.
We're getting a bit sidetracked, Mr. Goliath. :)
"HE IS NOT GOLIATH, DAVID, I AM!"
Okay, good point.
I beat the WArrior with Zero by staying really far away. :P
Lynchwood is an optional area after the few quests you have to do in it. I never did all the crap in it.
So, one quest, which if you don't do, the person is said to be dead, but isn't.
Maybe Nisha was assassinated by Burch. :P
I don't know, but okay, I grand you one quest that has an effect on the game, alibeit a minor one. Shrodingner's cat. :)
There is still no reason to be so angry even Goliaths will tell you to calm down.
Oh, and you literally can't use a person's name as a magical guide for proving someone hasn't beaten this game. That is literally so dumb of a way to measure things that calling it dumb would be a compliment.
You do know I've had 160+ hours in this game, right? Like 300 if you add in Borderlands 1, and that's just on this new computer.
And just because you did use it, doesn't mean I used literally wrong. :)
How are you this stubborn? Some quests are part of the story, some aren't. The example quest you used - Kill Yourself - can't be canon because you can do this quest at the end of the game after Jack's dead, and he'll still have dialogue. It doesn't imply New-U Stations are canon. It was just a quest put in for humor, and it's a very funny quest.
You've deviated too far from your original post. Just make a separate thread if you want to argue about which individual quests are canon or not.
Guys? I think it's trying to communicate.
I believe we need to kill it with fire before it achieves sentience.
Or nuke it from orbit.
Its already too late! It's learning! THATS THE SIGN OF THE APOCALYPSE! EVERYONE TO THE BUNKER!
NUUUUUUU! Quickly everyone! Find a plane, we go into the plane and we hopefully crash into the bunker!
