Headhunter DLCs and character level scaling
So googling around I've read in several places that, unless you've visited the starting location of any of the headhunter DLCs before, their missions should scale to your level (if over level 15).

However I can't seem to find that to be truth in normal mode. The missions are always level 15. Afraid that I might have accidentally fast-traveled to those locations in the past, I tried with one of the DLC characters (mechromancer in this case), of which I was absolutely sure I hadn't travelled to the DLCs starting points. So I leveled up the mechromancer to 16 and went to the beginning of the first headhunter, yet both the missions and enemies were level 15.

The only case in which I found headhunter scaling to be true was in true vault hunter mode. Went in with a level 32 gunzerker, and sure enough, missions and enemies were level 32.

So, is scaling for normal mode a myth, or did it use to be true but it's no longer the case, or what?

In my experience, the HH level (pre-UVHM) is based on your level when you first visit them, but I've never actually tried the middle ground in Normal mode. I've started them with higher level characters and they were level 35, and I've started them at 15 or below and they were 15. I've never started one of them with a character that was 16 - 34. I just assumed that they would scale to those levels. I'll have to try that some time today and see what happens.

Please let me know if you can remember.

I just started a Psycho yesterday and went up to about level 8 (always being the host, mostly main quests and -certainly- never going to the starting point of any of those DLCs). Thinking of trying the first HH when he's above 20 to see what happens as well.

OK, I took a level 32 character that has not completed Normal Mode and went to each of the HH DLC's, and they all scaled to my level. The first mission was level 32 in every case. And there's no doubt that this was in Normal Mode, because the character hasn't unlocked TVHM yet.

So, I don't know how you could have gotten something different. Is there any chance that you might have entered the DLC earlier, while playing with someone else? Maybe that could affect the level in your game?

Otherwise, I think I've seen other people post about problems with the HH DLC levels, so maybe there's some kind of glitch that some people run into. I don't know.

Another way to increase one's certainty about it is, i think, to check the accepted missions.

With my first (and highest level) character for example, with whom i have done none of these HH missions yet, but did travel to the beginning of each DLC area (in my early days ignorance of this mechanics), all of those missions show up as accepted but not completed. Though I can't recall if the mere act of travelling to Hallowed Hallow for example auto accepts the mission (as the NPC starts talking to you) or if you actually have to walk to them and accept it.

But for the characters I say I'm sure I haven't travelled there, I'm like 96.7% sure. Who knows, maybe my brain froze at some point or i got up to pee and someone fast travelled there and back without my noticing.

I intend on being a 100% sure though with the 2 extra DLC characters, like I said, I started the Psycho yesterday pretty much focusing on clarifying that. But with the Mechromancer at level 16 the first HH DLC mission was at 15, so I'm not sure what's going on. Maybe it only scales at higher levels like over 30?

Is there anyone to confirm going in for the first time to a HH DLC at say, level 18 or 19, and having the missions and enemies be at that same level?

At any rate, thanks for the input.

Not sure if it's just me, but when I go on one of the HH dlc (crawmerax) on TVHM, the monster's levels don't adjust to my level 44 zero since the monsters are at level 32.

Well, when i went to the oasis, for the captain scarlet's dlc, mobs and mission where right on my lvl (29), so it seems it worked for me

We're talking Headhunter DLCs.

Same problem here... My Mechromancer was Level 42 and I hadnt even started TVHM when I went for the HH DLCs. I wasnt at the regions before but all of them were Level 14/15. Even the Son of Crawmerax which should be Level 30-35 and not level 15-35 as the others are was Level 15... Has to be a bug

Actually, the HH DLC's can be 15 - 35 in Normal Mode, not 30 - 35. Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt (and the Tina DLC) is 30 - 35, so maybe you got SoC confused with Big Game Hunt. Having said that, it doesn't sound like SoC _should_ have been 15 for you, but, FWIW, it _can_ be that level, so that part, at least, wasn't a bug.

I still don't know how/why this is happening for some people.

Nope I didn't confuse them. But there may be false information in the wiki: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Add-on_content

Yeah, the Wiki's definitely wrong on that one. I'd checked the minimum levels before with a new character, but I just double-checked SoC. It's 15. It's funny how that page has 15 - 35 for all of the other HH packs, but 30 - 35 for SoC. Maybe whoever wrote that got SoC and Big Game Hunt mixed up?

This is because level 32 is the "Base" level for HH Dlc's in TVHM. Just like level 15 is the "Base" level in HH Dlc's in Normal mode.

How did you find this thread from 2015-17 ? Why did you necro it ? Did you think these people still cared or were you just not paying attention ?

If you wanted to complain about the headhunter quests just make a new topic. I feel like an old man yelling "stay off my lawn".
