what's so good about this game??
I've played a couple of hours of 1 and 2, and I just don't understand all of the hype and the fanbase, the shooting and gameplay is really stiff and boring,

When I shot I didn't feel the combat or anything, it feel's like shooting nothing out of a gun.

So can somebody tell me what's the hole drama with the big fanbase and all? I'm confused.

people are different, you may enjoy the more realistic games such as the one syou have atm MGS and hitman, this game has its own story and play style, it is a fps-rpg in the same time, and also have looting system which based on luck, which makes it interesting, when you get the 1st legendary you will feel awesome, level up and try to farm for the items you want, it is not just about shooting, the game has a story as well, each character you play with play the same playthrough in the game but after you finish it and play through the entire 1st and 2nd and if u want play TPS you will just want to know more .

I used to think the same. It took me almost 30 hours to really get into the game.

for me it was stupid humor and exploring the game's mechanics. after learnirng how "random" weapon system works, and playing a long time i got to find the best build and beast gear for each class for me. and thats how i spent 380hours in game. and damn it was fun.

Legendary loot... shame they are just junk that you will replace with a generic green gun five levels later.

Farming? With how easy the first game was I went through it without any need for that.
The second game starts to annoy me as the new siren's skill is so pathethic that I do not think I will have enough patiance to finish the game with her. Other characters I like even less.

The story? I finished the first game by a pure accident. There was this minor boss which I killed and BAM! You won. I seriously did not expect that it would be that easy. I did not even got any cool stuff from that guy! No challange whatsoever.
The second game is more 'this is annoying' kind of thing rather than 'what a challange'. When you literally cannot die, the challange is simply based on how much patiance you have to kill the enemy in front of you.

I played BL1 and went to BL2. Then I quit a year. Now back and onto it as much as I can. I get a lot of help online and here in forum. Lot of good people.
Nice to search and always get better gear. Very happy to find weapons, guns, grenades, shields ecc there is a lot and many combinations to try. Many different enemies and many maps.
Variety is great. Vehicles are great, specially in some DLCs. I think the creators used a lot of fantasy and gameplay got to a very high level.
Multiplayer works very well adding friends. "One of" top games ever I think.

gratuitous violence, crude humor, boatload of guns

What's not to love?

I feel the same way about Halo, I don't get why it was ever so popular.

it seemed like it to me at first, but i guess the story hooked me enough to complete the game. for me fun began at UVHM. it really is not a game for everybody, some find the magic, others do not.

Kill mobs -> Level up your toon and get cool loots -> Kill bigger mobs -> Level up more and get even cooler loots. That's basically the core of it.

It's not a shooter but loot hoarding RPG in the form of a shooter. You may or may not like this. I'm hooked though. It's more closer to Diablo/Torchlight than it is to CoD/Battlefield. Also you could say it's Fallout 3/NV in a much more arcady version.

Whacky and some funny characters, and in the case of BL2, diverse landscape and engaging story help as well.

If you've only played a couple hours you're barely into the game, and you'll have barely touched your action skill. Once you have enough skills to move around in your action skill the game becomes much more fun. No one has ever played a melee Krieg and been like "this sucks".
