It doesnt matter

Depends, I like to snipe and take things out from a distance when I can and the sniper is a good deal stronger then the one you start with (if you have the pack that starts you with the Gearbox guns), the shotgun is good for close up, go with your play style. I did it once to see Clappy with a Mohawk, but he don't keep it anyway.

The thing is though, I already have a better shotgun and sniper, so which one sells for the most?

What this guy said

You'll forget about it in a few levels

It depends on your character really, and the state of your weapon collection. Got a decent sniper rifle, and need a decent shotgun? Choose the shotgun. Otherwise choose the sniper.

Sniper for long distance, shotgun for close up and personal.

Up to you which you need - there is no logical choice.

I generally choose the sniper, because claptrap is so annoying. :)

lvl13 ,its a lvl5 mission reward that is really useful if your playing legit, stop power leveling and play the game properly

I'm just playing the side missions

ok fair enough, the point of side missions is to do them when you get to the area to help level up and provide better gear.

I could write a paragraph or two about how its all based on your playstyle and opinion but really in half an hour you will find a replacement anyway.

If you have nothing better, as in, really start from scratch, then I'd go for the sniper. It can one-shot most enemies in the area, while the shotgun kind of by definition forces you to run into close range, which you might not be very well suited for yet at low level, probably without a proper shield etc. On later playthroughs, or if you already have better gear, you could compare vendor prices, but even then the difference is too small to be really bothered I reckon.

On Normal mode, sniper. That early you can't really afford taking damage, and a single headshot will kill just about everything in one hit until you leave Southern Shelf.

The shotgun requires you to get up close and personal, and that's not something you want to do. Besides, you can find other (better or just as good) shotguns in the toilets and chests around Blackburn Cove.

On TVHM and UVHM, it doesn't really matter because a green rarity, non-elemental gun won't do anything your current gear can't do, even if it's at a higher level.

Just remember that unless they're unique (blue with flavor text, and you don't get to choose between two pieces of gear anyway), rewards for missions are usually bad. You can find better gear by just farming a vending machine, and if you do choose to use them, they'll be obsolete a couple of levels later anyway.
