Maybe there was a problem with the Shift system when you tried to redeem those codes.
I've read that your total Gold keys is limited to around 250, so if you have around that many, maybe the game isn't adding more or something.
If you happened to set your profile.bin file to read-only, the game won't be able to add keys.
Hmm. 240 keys is a lot. You may never actually use all of those. OTOH, I'm sure that you'd like to know that the system is still working for you, in case you do need more keys later, or want to redeem a Shift code for something else.
You're fairly close to the supposed limit. I'd use some of those keys (say 10 or 20), just to bring your total down some, then try another code (whenever a new one is released) and see what happens.
How can we find this difference for the same account?
Did the counter go down when you used those keys? If you restart the game now, load a character and go to the Golden chest, the number of keys it shows has gone down?
If so, I guess that proves that profile.bin is not read-only, and I don't know what else (other than having too many keys) could keep new keys from being added if you get the "Redeemed" message when you enter a Shift code.
128? It may just be coincidence, but if 128 is the max value that you see in the Linux version, it sounds like there's a problem with how they're storing, or interpreting, the value.
If you use a key in the Linux version, does the count go down to 127?
For the record, I have no idea how, or if, the Gold keys are really synced between different platforms, so I don't know how, or if, using keys in the game on one platform will affect the game on another platform.
I tested it today but still the same BS.
Did you copy your profile.bin from the Windows save to the Linux save? Windows and Linux do not share the cloud.
Mine was doing this too, use codes, but number did not go up, then one day I got a notice that I had <a number> keys, I used some, got down to 240, then when I did a code they went up. I think some times you can have more than 255 and it messes up the number displayed but I may be wrong on that, but mine is working fine now after using a bunch of keys. I was just burning them for someone in CO-OP and it started working, YAY
The counter goes down when using keys, but doesn't go up when using a shift code. I never had a problem with this before and than bam! me and 2 friends have the same problem with the keys. Even the "you've got x keys" message that pops up when you log into your character is gone. =/
Which OS are you using?
Find the profile.bin file and check to see if it's set to read-only. In Windows, you'd right-click on the file and select Properties, and look for a check box for the read-only attribute. The specifics may depend on which version of Windows you're using.
Well, you only get that message when the number of keys has increased since the last time you loaded that character, so that kind of makes sense.
You said that the key counter goes down when you use keys, but if you exit the game completely, restart it and go to the Golden chest, is the number of keys still down, or does it go back up to where it was before you used those keys?
