Zero and UVHM - total shield and health? Also, great luck with Bee and infinity but none with Sham
I'm playing Zero and have started UVHM. I'm at the point on Flynt's ship where I would raise Claptrap on the lift, but there have been two baddies there who kill me easily and I'm having trouble progressing.

How much shield strength and health do you think is needed for Zero for UVHM? I currently am using a Bee (with relics boosting it to 39142) and have 73582 health.

In regards to gear, I've been lucky with the Bee ( 3 Bees in 23 Hunter kills), and the Inifinity pistol (2 in 24 Doc Mercy kills, plus one from the loot chamber on the ship after killing Dr. Nakamura (sp?) ). BUT, no legendaries at all after 100 Bunker take downs (yes, I track them, it's not an estimate). I'm using a level 50 DV UH pistol as my main weapon, have the inifinity pistol in slot 2, and of course, a good sniper rifle for long distance. I've tried using a stronger regular shield, but it didn't seem to make much difference. The freaking psychos can take me down in one shot from their thrown axe.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. I don't use cheats or dupes. Thanks.

P.S. I'm currently level 56 and, for now, play solo.

Health and shield capacity don't matter much in higher levels due to the scaling of enemy damage. In fact having more health can be detrimental due to health gating.

6 levels is a long time to keep a gun, even if it's a Legendary. You should replace the Harold and anything that's level 50 whenever you can. Other than that, do you have a reliable way to slag?

The first UVHM run is the most difficult playthrough in my opinion.
You may be stuck now since your relatively high level. The farming might do you some harm there.
If possible, open the game to public and someone may join and help. That's how I got through Capt Flynt in the first UVHM run.

Slag and Eplosive damage are your best friends on uvhm ..Slag conference call plus harold and a decent slag sniper .Slag spike shield is better than corrossion they seem to be more resistant to corrossion and fire .I tried shock damage aswell didnt seem do so aswell either .

Slag ♥♥♥♥♥ works a treat and lighting /slag pearl plasma caster gun works well enough .

You probably have a launcher in slot 4 and are using a stalker or infiltrator class mod (that's a statement-like question) ?

Use a rubi or grog plus grenades to get over the health gate as needed, lightning bolts and chain lightning are shockingly good for that. One shot alone can't kill you when you have more than half health. Kuni with grog in hand does great for health gating too.

The usual for uvhm, slag and strip enemy shields, then focus on damaging they're health. You can throw grenade cocktails like a slag bouncing betty followed by a tesla. Or use shock nades and grog for slag.

There's some synergy between health gating and prepping the bad guys for destruction.

I did this part as a melee zero using a ninja class mod and some kind of roid shield, probably a lvl 50 hide of terra, but it sounds like you're not melee focused at all. One thing about melee is that weapon level just doesn't matter. Do you have a rapier?

Have you tried sniping them from long range to avoid getting hit?

If you're still using a level 50 Bee with a level 56 character in UVHM, then you're really handicapping yourself. Gear strength almost doubles every 5 levels in UVHM, so a comparable level 56 Bee would have over twice the capacity and amp damage. If you have the Tina DLC, you can farm the treants for a new Bee, and you don't have to get through too much of the DLC to reach them.

if you need help getting to sanct i have a lvl55 zerker to get you there

Waste_of_skin THANKS, I thought I was studk with level 50 Bee until I get there in UBHM. I have Tina so I will farm the Treants for a leel 56 Bee.

Thank you all for the info. You're using terms that I don't know (kuni? grog? health gating?). I assumed that the level difference for some of my weapons was a problem and I have replaced some, but the DP UH has still been working very well on most mobs. Yes, I do try to kill everything at distance that i can. I prefer sniping whenever possible. I have slag sniper and Assault Rifle and use slag grenades. I have upgraded all my weapons to level 55 or 56, so I'll farm the heck out of the BEE and see how it goes.

Thanks again for all the helpful info. You guys are great.

Health gating = if you have more than 50% HP remaining, you cannot be downed in one hit. When it triggers you have about 1.6 seconds of invincibility.

Grog = Grog Nozzle, a Moxxi gun that heals 65% of all damage done. Is a mission item from "The Beard Makes the Man" quest in Tiny Tina DLC.

Kunai = Death Bl0ssom, the tier 6 skill in Zer0's Cunning tree.

UBHM - ultimate badass hunter mode.

on topic, If you can't get your hands on a moxxi weapon, a transfusion grenade at level 56, with little to no health increase investments, will heal you to slightly over 50% health in my experience allowing for a poorman's health gating method.

The Grog Nozzle is normally a mission weapon, meaning that you only have it while that mission is still active in that playthrough, and it stays in your backpack (taking up a slot) until you turn in the mission. But it was also a special drop during the Loot Hunt event last year and those versions of the Grog Nozzle are normal weapons that aren't connected to the mission and can be put in the bank or stash, etc. If you're interested, you can probably find someone that will give you one in the In-Game Trading sub-forum.

A slag Rubi can work as a substitute for a Grog. It returns only 12% of damage done as health, but your damage output is so high in uvhm out of necessity that you get healed up real quick with it too. When using those weapons for healing purposes, level doesn't matter so much.

http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Rubi

For a zer0, you really want bladed versions of those weapons. With a roid shield you can stand toe to toe with pretty much anything.

Take a look at how the rubi, rapier, and love thumper are being used in this vid.

Thanks again for the replies. I have pretty much ignored Zero's melee abilities. Looks like I may need to respec. BTW, I made it to Sanctuary after upgrading my weapons and changing my play style slightly. Ran into a problem doing the Hair quest for Hammerlock because the bongs would kill me in one hit when I got close to do the melee. I got another Bee shield from the Treants, but it was only level 50 (was on TVHM), so I guess I need to get there in UVHM (sorry about the typo before that made it UBHM). Ape, I'm gonna view the video now. Thanks.

Ape, no launcher in slot 4. I switch that in when needed. I usually have a high damage pistol in 1, caustic SMG in 2, explosive Assault Rifle in 3, and slag sniper in 4. My class Mod is a sniper mod atm.
