Exactly how do I get pimpernel without dupping?
First I have nothing against dupping but for right now it is not for me.
I am running a level 64 Zerker in UVHM mode, I have read great things in the forums about the pimpernel and would like to get one (or more). I know they are in the Oasis DLC but that is all I know about it. Where exactly in the DLC is it? How far into the DLC is it? What is it close to in sequence of the play? How hard is it? I have read that some people get several variations - how do they do that?
I realize that I have asked a lot of questions. Please don't let the number of questions overwhelm you. Any way you can help me to understand and proceed would be greatly appreciated.

It comes from the side mission "Don't Copy that Floppy" in Washburne Refinery. You get access to that area around halfway through the storyline.

People get different varients from farming the quest reward, trading, etc.

Generally speaking, the "completely legit" (and stupidly hard) way to get different versions of a reward is to do the mission with different characters, and keep doing it with different characters until you get the versions that you're looking for. In UVHM, you also have the option of "resetting" UVHM for a character, which erases _all_ of their UVHM mission progress, after which you can do everything again with that character, including that side mission (but first you'll have to repeat all of the main missions that lead up to that side mission).

Or, as Mihryazd said, you could trade, which is certainly "legit" within the game (but any items that you get from someone else may or may not be "legit", and certainly could have been duped).

Farming the mission reward is not really "legit", since it involves bypassing basic game mechanics in one way or another. Basically, after you turn in the mission, you do something to keep the game from remembering that you did that, so that you can turn the mission in again and get another reward. If you get a reward that you want to keep, put it in the Stash.

As for the Pimpernel itself, here's the Wiki page for the mission:

Thank you for your replies. I have read that the sand hawk is also a good piece of gear to get from Oasis. Is that mission any where close to "don't copy that floppy?'

The Sand Hawk is obtained from the story mission "Whoops". You have to go to Washburne for that mission anyways so you can pick up "Don't Copy that Floppy" while you're there.

http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Unique

That page will tell you which missions provide unique rewards. There are links to other pages on that site will tell you about each mission.

I can't imagine why a Gunzerker would want a Pimpernel other than to exploit its ridiculous damage glitch. So you don't want to use a harmless dupe glitch in order to get a weapon that allows a game-breaking damage glitch?

First of all I have no problem with dupping and if I ever try to trade in the future (which I need to do) I'm sure that I may be getting dupped gear. It is one of those non-logical perameters which I have placed on myself at this point in playing the game. I was under the impression that the pimpernel was a good sniper rifle besides also providing the power glitch (which I believe that the programmers left in on purpose since one of the comments on the bottom of the screen has to do with a Zerker using both a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher at the same time.) I have been very disappointed with sniping since I left TVHM and went into UVHM, I have level 64 rifles but it still takes a lot to do any good. In fact using the DPUH with a slagga has done me well at close range but I have found very little that works well at intermediate to long range in UVHM.

It is the best sniper in the game, period.

Is any particular variation better for my Zerker sniping than the others? Also do you have any suggestions for filling the gap I have in the intermediate range?

The Sand Hawk, which you already asked about earlier.

The ones I use with my Siren have a Jakobs grip, Dahl stock, and Damage accessory. Maliwan grip also works too, it grants a faster reload and a larger magazine size (since it's a matching grip) but less damage.

Nice necro. 2014. Impressive.

Re-set your playthrough if you are in UVHM.

If you are in normal or TVHM, just wait intil UVMH.
