otherwise, you're gonna expend a lot of energy for very little XP.
True Vault Hunter Mode or Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode ?
If you're in what we call 2nd playthrough or TVHM and have finished the story , everything scales to 50, so you can farm your gear on level to be ready for UVHM.
If you didn't complete the story yet, you can enter some HeadHunters DLC (they scale to the level you had when you first entered them) and farm some vendors/red chests.
Abbuse the slag, and elemental weaknesses too btw, free damage.
If you want more advices, consider telling us the VH you're playing, the gear you're using, and your skilltree. (You can take just one screenshot of your inventory and one of your skill tree, no need to tell us the name of every weapon, we'll reconize them)
In TVHM, level 50 is the cap for all weapons and gear.
In UVHM, enemies are dynamic and are always your level (or a level or two above yours in the case of bosses). Because of the way weapon damage works (and is based on level), you do NOT want to be trying to start UVHM beyond level 50ish. Attempting to start UVHM at (just for example) level 57, with level 50 gear is a very painful experience. There are some options if you do end up in that situation, but it's still best to avoid it if at all possible.
This is a skill calculator:

You can use it to post whatever build you're using, and we might be able to give you some tips.
Additionally, upgrade your weapons and gear. Level is important. Level in many cases can be more important than rarity.
+ Not only UVHM is a pain with underleveled gear but like i said earlier you also can farm 50 gear before entering UVHM to make the start a bit easier.
As for that
I recommand for you melee gear that you get :
- The shield Love Thumper
A unique roid shield that is good for melee til you get other shields later on, like the pun-chee, or hide of terra.
Do the quest Stalker of Stalkers at Overlook, then kill rnadom Stalkers til they drop you a box for that new quest, giving this shield
- A healing weapon, such as the Rubi
Slag bladed would be ideal but any is fine, you don't need perfection yet. You get 12% lifesteal when you have it in hand
Do the quest Rakkaholics Anonymous and report in to moxxi
- The Rapier
Unique AR that gives you +200% Melee damage (and you take double melee damage when drawn iirc)
Do the quest Message in a Bottle: Hayters Folly (Scarlet DLC)
- A slag dedicated weapon, such as the Slagga
Do the quest chain Clan War and side with the Zaford, the Hodunk boss is the one that drops it.
As for the non melee stuff , because is just that good :
- Fastball
Do the quest In Memoriam and farm Boll for it
- Unkept Harold
Farm Savage Lee for it, a guarateed spawn is where you find Caporal Reiss during the story mission, in the marrowfield.
- A Topneaa if you find one
E-tech vladof launcher, good for second winds and has an insane radius.
Also i sucessfully beat the main campaign. So i should Start UVHM immediately correct?
Wasnt sure if i should try to farm the last boss a few times before still level 50 but close to 51
enemies scale to your level in UVHM, and are also much tougher to kill.
so you don't want under levelled gear.
don'tu_worry is a Zer0 expert, heed his advice.
