100000% agreed

Imagine buying a game on steam, i mean..."a license to use the software"

Years later the publisher adds mandatory launcher, why? we didn't need that to play, well no big deal, game is good, we can still play offline...

Two years later the launcher requires online access like it or not, it has become always online DRM even for single player experience... k no big deal, i have internet.

Next year, they add a new DRM like "enigma" why? the game was cracked like 10 years ago, what's the point?

And finally they change the EULA, TOS etc making you accept like it or not, else no game for you, they won't let you launch the game unless you accept more data harvesting, telemetry, analytics, giving em personal info and god knows what else they hoarding to sell and share with other companies.

if people are ok with this whats stopping any other publisher from adding more drm, new eulas, launchers, always online drm and stuff like that? they can change terms long after the purchase was made they can do whatever they like and you can't do anything about it.

ima stop purchasing anyhthing from this publisher and send ticket to valve to see if i can get a refund.

Well, let's see. They allowed it on Steam. What do you think? Or do you think they failed to look or notice? Think, then post. Or better yet, don't ever post.

I don't know what steams position on this is, but retroactively changing EULAs is generally frowned upon as you didn't agree to those terms when you bought the game, not agreeing to these new terms can (at worst) bar you from using the product you paid for. It might even be illegal in some EU countries, but I'm not certain.

I don't know what exactly happens when you refuse these changes, as I refuse to play this game as long as the EULA is active and applies to BL2.

I suspect that they're trying to pave the way for a new launcher, that they're going to push with either BL4 or GTA6 and retroactively add to older games (just like they did with their 2k launcher a few years back). They have every legal right to do so.

Same goes to you, If all you're gonna do is throw out hate and anger, maybe just skip replying. Sounds like things might be rough for you at home or with family, but hang in there things tend to get better with time. No need to carry all that anger; it’s not great for you. Hope things turn around for you soon, and thanks for the reply.

What concerns me most is the data harvesting they’ve introduced in the new EULA.

Yeah, they basically gave themselves complete freedom of action to do anything they want with it really. That's why it's so worded so vaguely.

It is. Not just some but all, the UK too. Possibly also Australia.

See.. Steam itself is a kind of DRM, so they are not against DRMs per se.
But its owner Valve Corporation are not going to toss away a lucrative business opportunity just because some gaming company suddenly enforces intrusive DRM for its game. Otherwise, major corporates like Ubisoft and Capcom would have been by Valve/Steam already.

By the way, alternative gaming storefront sites like GOG.com were specifically created to share/sell DRM-free games (and that's why I respect CDProjektRED so much, since they are the ones who started and funded the GOG initiative).

I also appreciate Epic Games for creating another alternative to Steam, and for giving away AAA & AA games for free. Epic Games's founder/owner & CEO Tim Sweeney has also spoken up publicly on how gaming industry and digital companies (like Google, Apple, Amazom) are punishing indie gaming companies, by fleecing them with exorbitant charges/fees, while giving better deals to bigger AAA rival companies.
LOL. No, they do not. Read some of the posts here that explain this "nothingburger" in detail. The ONLY problem is social media "influencers" creating a controversy just so they can earn money from the clicks.

The problem is Take-Two's overreach as a game publisher. Influencers did not create that horrendous EULA, Take-Two did.

Steam has led the way in introducing measures to protect the player base, and I hope they continue to prioritize these concerns in the future.

Meanwhile, GOG operates on an entirely different level, they’re completely on our side, no doubt about it. That said, I don’t believe Steam would risk alienating the very community that made them successful. What do you think?

When they can't make a valid argument, they always resort to blaming 'The Influencer.' It seems like they either don’t care about the future of gaming or aren’t concerned about the money they’ve spent on a game.
Even worse, they’re indifferent to a company spying on them.

Oh, I see. So, if I lack intelligence, don't know something, or refuse to take things for granted, does that give you the right to be intolerant toward me?

Let me ask you something, are you superior to every person who ask something because they don't know the answer and you do?

I'd love to answer this, but I'm kind of busy farming a spiker, so I can farm Vorac at OP10. It make him (her?) easy.
honest question right. can you point to what changed
