How does multiplayer work
Hi everyone.

I have tried to search a bit without success, so can anyone explain me how does Borderlands 2 multiplayer work ? I mean:
  • How does the game know what missions are available or not ?
  • How does it decide the enemies level, the loot ?
  • Where are you going to spawn when you join/create a game ?

Thank you very much if you have any clue, and have a good evening ;-)

The multiplayer is actually just an exact copy of the singleplayer, except you can play coop (the best coop experience I've had in any game). You can coop with up to 4 friends via invites or 4 random players using the match maker.

Mission progress is based on that of the hosts. The people joining will not have their mission progress saved to their singleplayer but will keep their character progression and items (which is the important part). When joining someone's game, you will spawn near them. Same goes for if someone joins your game.

Looting is pretty bad unless your playing with friends because there is only a single set of loot when dropped and a douche player could just steal everything and leave others with nothing, coop with friends is where this game shines.

Depending on the mode (normal, true, ultimate vault hunter) enemies levels will be different. In normal, enemies are scaled to the host. In true and ultimate, they are scaled to the highest player.

Hope this helps.
That was perfect, thanks a lot ! ;-)

Another bit of info for Multiplayer. The game tries to match players looking for games with games that are within 3 levels of them. So a Level 20 character, the game would try to match with players that are Level 17 to 23.

and be careful too, if you have a side mission open say, doctor's orders, and someone completes it, guess what, itll save on your file too, had that happen to me with my assassin, someone picked up a recorder and Boom!! screwed my save game to hell and back and when i went and checked it after we all traveled back to sanctuary, it showed that it saved it, thats why im really careful of who i play with when i do co-op, i didnt log out or anything, even when i did that dashboarding out thing, when i reloaded the game it shwed it was saved

If you are worried about something like this, I would reccomend making a back-up of your save data (for the character you are planning on playing with at least) before joining a game just for added reassurance. I've heard there are ways to change your save data after the fact to restart these missions, but I don't have experience with them.

You can use gibbed to reset missions back to the incomplete state.

* Raw Tab

* Mission Playthru Item
This opens a collection control window with three MissionPlaythruData items listed on the left-hand-side, pick the one for normal/tvhm/uvhm as desired.

* Mission Data (item on the righ-hand-side of the collection control Window above)
That opens a new collection control window with a very long list of MissionData items on the left-hand-side. Choose the mission you want to reset, then on the right-hand-side set
ActiveObjectiveSetIndex = 0
ObjectiveProgress = all 0s
Status = Active

Ask here for people to add you. Then build into the friend lists of those you click with. Takes a bit, but allows you to mostly skip the numerous asshats out there.

well it would be great if that ignore option in the mission log would work im actually wondering why there is an ignore option in the mission log to ignore quests it seems that doesn't do anything you still can pick up mission items of the quest you have ignored.. does anyone knows if this option does something?
