Do I finish the DLC before beating the final mission?
I've read that the enemies from the dlc scale from lvl 15-30, and that the levels don't change until I play in true vault hunter mode. I'm currently at lvl 30. I don't want to play the main game all over again. I just want to experience the DLC and the main game once (for now). I don't care about leveling up to lvl 50+ and whatnot. But I'm concerned about the difficulty. Will the DLC be too easy if I take a go at it now?

idk, but i share the same concerns, it seems like they really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up BL2 for the hardcore players who actually want to "Maintain" a challenge...

The main fix it seems is to simply "Dont do any sidequest" Which is really disapointing because id rather just enjoy the game while the enemies follow my level on the hardest difficulty...

From a storytelling perspective, the DLCs don't happen until after "The Talon of God." But if you're not concerned with spoilers (And boy howdy do they spoil some ♥♥♥♥) you can really do them whenever you like. The DLCs scale to 35 on normal mode, by the by, so you should be fine.

I already knows what happens at the end, so I don't think the spoilers will bother me.

If leveling stuff gets in the way of you enjoying the game, you can always used gibbed to put your level where you want. I do that regularly to stay at level 50 while wrapping things up in tvhm.

Have you actually completed the Warrior mission in the main game? I don't think that the scaling in the DLC is connected to that, but if you want to play it safe, I'd do the Warrior mission first.

The first 2 campaign DLC's (Pirate and Torgue) scale up to 30 in Normal Mode (except for a few side missions in the Torgue DLC, which will be level 50). The second 2 (Hammerlock and Tina) scale up to 35 in Normal Mode. If you start them with your character at level 30, they should start at that level. Since the first 2 are limited to 30, you may want to do them first.

that is not correct! enemies on normal mode will scale in lvl all the way up to 50
(i was lvl 51 before i begun on TVHM) that would have been impossible if they still was lvl 30-35

note: you need all dlc´s to do this else lvl 30 is about max lvl you be in the end

edit: recently played and almost completed Oasis as the 1st dlc i played until i got to lvl 35 (not final mission with boss)
then i did go to hunters grotto with Sir Hammerlock and enemies was lvl 34-38 already in first area where you meet with sir hammerlock
(bet i see enemies above lvl 40 before im done with that dlc & show screenshots as proof)

Yeah, Hammerlock and Tina go into the 40s on Normal, easily. The Raid Boss for Tiny Tina is about Level 46, which actually made it seem easier then it actually was.

Umm, no. In normal mode, you will see some enemies that are around level 50 in the Tier 3 missions in the Torgue DLC (except the race), and the raid boss in the main game (I'm leaving out his name to avoid spoiling anything for anyone) will be around 50. But no normal enemies are going to be 50.

I've done all of the campaign DLC with higher level characters. The mission levels max out around level 30 or 35, depending on the DLC, and the normal enemy levels are around that same level. I just took a level 51 character to the Tina DLC in Normal Mode for the first time (got the intro video) and the first mission was level 35, and, speaking from experience, all of the following missions are going to be the same.

It's far from impossible. Aside from using a higher level character to "power level", I had a character that was level 51 in Normal Mode, before they even got Sanctuary off the ground. I just played all of the campaign DLC, and did some XP grinding in some places, like the Tier 3 race in the Torgue DLC.

That's normal. Hammerlock will scale up to around level 35, and some enemies may be a little higher. Don't expect them to change much from what you're seeing now.

I bet you don't see enemies above 40 before you're done. Not any "normal" enemies. _Maybe_ bosses, but I doubt it, unless they go up several levels during the fight (I can't remember if any of the Hammerlock bosses level up like that).

No, they don't go into the 40's, except maybe for some specific things, like the raid bosses. For example, I've done the Tina DLC in Normal Mode with characters that were level 50 or higher before they even started that DLC, and every single mission, including the arena and raid boss, was level 35, with enemies around that level. The raid bosses in the Tina DLC start at level 38 (I just fought them a little while ago to check), and they can level up some during the fight, although 46 sounds kind of high, since they start at 38. But maybe they can go up that high if you take long enough to kill them.

I'm confused now. So, if I don't finish the last mission, and just start on the DLC, I'll be fighting some enemies higher than my lvl 30 character?
ApeWithPC Apr 18, 2014 @ 11:58pm
If you start the dlc after beating the tvhm playthru, they're all pinned at level 50 the whole way thru. A lot less confusing.

No no, well, maybe. It won't be so extreme as level 50 characters. basically, to answer your initial question, you can do the DLC whenever you like; after the final mission or right from the beginning of the game, you won't suffer for it. The choice is up to you.

_Some_ enemies? Sure. Some tougher enemies may be a level or two above you. Maybe a bit more for bosses. But, assuming that you're talking about Normal Mode, most of them will be your level or below. If you're level 30, you're not going to be facing hordes of level 35 enemies or anything like that.

The campaign DLC's do have minimum levels in Normal Mode. For example, I think it's around level 15 for the Torgue DLC. But I'm sure that none of them have a minimum above 30 in Normal Mode.

And if you're still not sure, you can always just go check. If you haven't started a DLC, go there, get the first mission (you automatically get the first mission shortly after entering the DLC) and check the mission level. And check the levels for the first enemies you see.

Thanks for the feedback eveyone. So I've decided to just finish the main game. If I start another run in true vault hunter mode, can I just start on the DLC from there?
