Solo Raid Bosses
I've heard of some people soloing the raid bosses, but there's apparently ridiculous exploits, strategies, et cetera involved. I play solo, and while I could go online briefly to take on the big guys, I have a more preferred method; is it realistically possible for a player, with adequate skill, to take on the Raid Bosses?

Yes, but how, depends on your character.

It is possible to solo raid bosses, the way in which it is done depends on what character you play.

I've soloed every Raid Boss using Gaige without exploits of any kind and also with Salvadore but his entire set-up past level 50 is one big exploit so I don't count him.

Well, I'm playing as Salvadore, so... great!

Salvador needs to be excluded because just about any build will take down a raid boss. Now if you want a challenge, use Maya. With Salvador the only real strategy is to maximize money shot, fire rate, and use a moxxie weapon to keep your health up. A basic Rubi and Harold will do the trick. You can use any adaptive shield, it doesn't matter. Use any mod that adds points to money shot but that isn't neccessary. The Sherrif's Badge is a good relic to use (increased fire rate) and that's about it.

He's pretty much a one build guy, while you can have multiple builds of other classes.

Something tells me the Psycho is the absolute worst class to try to solo raids with.

Done them all with Psycho, some faster than a Gunzerker. Have it recorded too.

Yes! And with a zerker you should have an easier time of it then i do with a siren.

Not long a ago i solo'd the dragons with a level50 siren (with a whole lot of help about builds and gear from some folks on this board). I didn't do that in the course of normal gameplay and it did require me to "cheat" in the following ways...
- gave myself $50M as needed for resurection fees and rocket ammo
- gave myself eriduim as needed for defense/ammo shrine fees
- gave myself any gear i wanted to use w/o having to actually get it in game
It took me countless attempts to do it but i finally did. I haven't gotten around to fighting any of the other bosses yet but i want to get to them too eventually.

Youtube is a good resource for tips about how to fight them.
- with the dragons, the order of the dragons is very important
- with hyperius, there's "the pipe" to hide behind

You have to study the boss closely and gear your char up carefully with that particular boss in mind. Which boss do you want to fight first?

Psycho, Assassin, Zerker, and Gaige can all bring down raid bosses in seconds if not a couple minutes. In a way it is kind of funny saying Salvador is broken because the reality is that those four classes are all pretty much broken as well, UVHM and OP levels saw to that. If I can use Zero to run up to Vorac and solo him with melee in seconds, that's a broken class and b0re is a whole other issue. I know players like to think that somehow its different, but it really isn't.

Axton and Maya are really the only classes that keep a player honest and even those two can be beasts as well. The rest are a glitch fest whether it be CA, Anarchy stacks, or Bloodsplosion. The difference between a glitch or tactic is a matter of semantics.

I think the Gunzerker is the only class that can have one continuous skill tree for all raid bosses whilst others may need to change it or require staking etc, which is why it is considered the most OP character.
bubbacho Mar 30, 2014 @ 2:01pm
Well the Zerker is definitely a one trick pony for sure. Beyond that you're a button monkey at the helm. Easiest class to play without a doubt.

My basic point was a class that can take down a boss that is designed for four players to defeat, and then solo that boss at it's highest level in seconds is a broken class. I really don't see any other way to look at it.

Maybe its really a matter of UVHM+ corrupting the game.

From the OP's hours in game and acheivements, looks like he's still working on a first playthru. First things first, don't even think about solo'ing raid bosses till you beat the game in tvhm and are around level 50.
bubbacho Mar 30, 2014 @ 2:34pm
I don't even think I've soloed a raid boss before level 50. I wonder what that would be like or if it would even be possible. So few points in your skill trees, that would be fun to try. Taking down Hyperious while your class is still pure and untouched by the debauchery of UVHM :)
