I think the main character that wouldn't benefit from this as much as the others might be Gaige.
She seems like the Bee fits her better anyways what with blood-soaked shields.
Many think that sharing and caring doesn't help when you use a rough rider, but your deathtrap gets more health AND the damage resistance, but if you do this, i don't suggest using norfleets as the damage goes straight to your health.
rough rider with Maya is fine as long as you use moxxi weps and spec into the health regen tree. something else good is the kinetic reflection skill with a +6 to kinetic reflection, as when you get a kill, for the time active, you will be immune to bullet damage, and in fact get HEALED, and the speed is VERY good, but unnecessary .
with Axton, i dont suggest it at all, he has so many shield based skills for shield regen that its almost pointless.
Zer0 is good with it if you run melee or a LOT of Moxxi weps, but i don't suggest it, as more often than not, a bee or a sham is more useful.
its EXTREMLY good on Kreig. he has so many skills that activate when he has no sheilds that its almost a staight up upgrade, and doing this means you dont need to resort to a combo of bloodlust/moxxi weps/ release the beast for your main damage and survivability source. i do NOT suggest running hellborn, as youll die SOOOO quickly, but mania and bloodlust are AMAZING with the rough rider.
hope this helps :3
Deathtrap only mimics the shield you have on when you summon him. If you equip Rough Rider, summon DT, then swap to, say, Antagonist, DT will still have a Rough Rider set. No need to shackle yourself to the same shield he has ^_^
If you have other use for the RR, you might need higher level ones later though.
you sure it's not an invisible/hidden benefit from the shield itself that was unlisted? I ask this question, is because there's a shield in the original game called Wee-Wee's Super Booster that has 2 unlisted benefits, Quick Health Regeneration and an extra health boost by 15%.
I haven't gotten the Rough Rider shield yet, but i'll keep an eye out for it.
